The National<\/a>\u2019s Matt Berninger<\/a> played an eerie, bluesy version of Radiohead<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Kid A\u2019 in Los Angeles this week \u2013 watch below.<\/p>\n

The singer is touring in support of his second solo album \u2018Get Sunk\u2019, which is set to be released on Friday (May 30) via Book\/Concord. Pre-order\/pre-save the record here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At his show at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday (May 21), Berninger opened his encore with a cover of Thom Yorke<\/a> and co.\u2019s 2000 track, a song that has become a recurring presence in Berninger\u2019s sets on this tour.<\/p>\n

Berninger has previewed \u2018Get Sunk\u2019 with singles \u2018Bonnet Of Pins<\/a>\u2019, \u2018Breaking Into Action<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018Inland Ocean<\/a>\u2019, the latter of which features Hand Habits.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The singer\u2019s current US tour kicked off in Seattle on May 19 and once complete, he will head to Europe for shows in Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester and London in August. Speaking about going solo back in 2020, Berninger told\u00a0NME<\/a>: \u201cMost of my songs are love songs to myself or that champion me. They\u2019re cheerleading songs for my own soul. I\u2019m writing things that I suspect Carin would like to say to me. You know, \u2018I hope my daughter understands me\u2019, \u2018My mother will know this is about her\u2019. They\u2019re not just about me; they\u2019re about the people that made me\u2026 me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, in September 2023,\u00a0NME\u00a0spoke to Berninger again, this time about his writing process and its interaction with his mental health<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t believe in ghosts,\u201d he said, \u201cbut I believe in the power of the belief in ghosts. It\u2019s the same thing with God.
