Enemy air strikes were recorded in 22 areas, and downed cruise missiles and attack UAVs (drones) fell in 15 locations,\u201d the air force said on Telegram.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s security service reported that at least four people were killed and 16 were injured in the capital, Kyiv.<\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s emergency service reported that three children \u2013 aged eight, 12 and 17 \u2013 were killed in the region of Zhytomyr, while another person was killed in the southern city of Mykolaiv.<\/p>\n<p>Four others were killed in attacks across the Khmelnytskyi region, Sergiy Tyurin, the deputy head of the regional military administration, said in a post on Telegram, adding that civilian infrastructure had been destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said it had been a \u201cdifficult Sunday morning in Ukraine after a sleepless night\u201d following \u201cthe most massive Russian air attack in many weeks\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A difficult Sunday morning in Ukraine after a sleepless night. The most massive Russian air attack in many weeks lasted all night.<\/p>\n<p>Russia launched hundreds of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles into Ukrainian cities and communities during the night, injuring and\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FcawH6DJD4\">pic.twitter.com\/FcawH6DJD4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andrii Sybiha \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\udde6 (@andrii_sybiha) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/andrii_sybiha\/status\/1926518080168996939?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">May 25, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram that \u201cmore than a dozen enemy drones\u201d were in the airspace around the capital.<\/p>\n<p>He reported damage to a student dormitory in Holosiivskyi district, a house in Dniprovskyi district and a residential building in Shevchenkivskyi district.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Russia\u2019s Ministry of Defence said its forces shot down 110 Ukrainian drones overnight.<\/p>\n<p>Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 12 drones flying towards the Russian capital had been intercepted.<\/p>\n<p>Restrictions were imposed on at least four airports, including the main hub Sheremetyevo, the Russian civilian aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, said.<\/p>\n<p>Major prisoner swap<\/p>\n<p>The two sides traded fire as they engaged in their biggest prisoner swap since Moscow\u2019s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Kyiv and Moscow agreed to swap 1,000 prisoners of war and civilian detainees each in\u00a0talks held in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/5\/16\/russia-ukraine-talks-end-in-less-than-two-hours-with-no-ceasefire-deal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Istanbul<\/a>, Turkiye, earlier this month\u00a0\u2013 the first time the two sides had met face to face for peace talks.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russia\u2019s Defence Ministry said each side brought home <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/5\/24\/ukraine-calls-for-new-sanctions-as-russia-hits-kyiv-amid-prisoner-exchanges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">307 more soldiers<\/a> on Saturday, a day after each released a total of 390 servicemen and civilians.<\/p>\n<p>Zelenskyy said on his official Telegram channel that further releases are expected on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian Defence Ministry also said it expected the exchange to continue.<\/p>\n<p>The renewed attacks followed a massive wave of attacks the previous day, with Ukraine reporting on Saturday that Russia had hit it with 250 drones and 14 ballistic missiles, while Russia said it was attacked by at least 100 Ukrainian drones.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ukrainian foreign minister describes air attacks on third day of prisoner swap as biggest in weeks.
