The PSNI has confirmed a body found on a beach in Co Down has been identified and said the death is \u201cnot being treated as suspicious\u201d.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday police forensics officers were pictured at the beach<\/a> and the surrounding area on the Donaghadee Road area of Millisle village.<\/p>\n

It was later confirmed the body of a man had been found by a dog walker earlier that day and was significantly decomposed when it was located.<\/p>\n

In a statement to the Belfast Telegraph, police confirmed the body was a male and said they were liaising with the family of the man.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said: \u201cThe Police Service of Northern Ireland can confirm that the body found in the Donaghadee Road area of Millisle on Wednesday 21st May, has been identified.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe remains were determined to be male and police are engaging with the family of the deceased.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe death is not being treated as suspicious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, DUP MLA Stephen Dunne said his thoughts were with the person\u2019s loved ones.<\/p>\n

“I was shocked by the news that a body had been discovered on a quiet beach in Millisle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

“My thoughts and prayers are with this individual’s family and friends at this most difficult time.<\/p>\n
