{"id":130551,"date":"2025-05-25T11:46:10","date_gmt":"2025-05-25T11:46:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/130551\/"},"modified":"2025-05-25T11:46:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-25T11:46:10","slug":"i-wont-do-it-with-someone-who-is-half-hearted-about-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/130551\/","title":{"rendered":"I won&#8217;t do it with someone who is half-hearted about it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/the-who\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Who<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/roger-daltrey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roger Daltrey<\/a> has responded to alleged comments made by his bandmate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/pete-townshend\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pete Townshend<\/a>,\u00a0about the group\u2019s upcoming farewell US tour.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"post-content-read-more\">\n<li><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-who-pete-townshend-interview-quadrophenia-ballet-setlists-new-music-tour-3768502\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pete Townshend tells us about his new Quadrophenia ballet and the future of The Who<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During an interview with Sunday People, Townshend remarked that the band had \u201cgone on a bit too long\u201d, highlighting that two members had died and adding that it \u201cdoes sometimes feel like flogging a dead horse\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Daltry has responded, telling the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-14738255\/The-final-shows-threat-Roger-Daltrey-Pete-Townshend-sack-Zak-Starkey.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Mail<\/a>: \u201cIf Pete doesn\u2019t want to tour, I don\u2019t want to be back with The Who on the road, at 81, with someone who doesn\u2019t want (to) be there \u2013 if that\u2019s what he\u2019s saying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t do it with someone who is half-hearted about it. But, you know, every dog has its day and it was a wonderful ride.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It echoes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-whos-pete-townshend-i-dont-love-performing-it-doesnt-fill-my-soul-3858395\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">past claims from Townshend that he \u201cdoesn\u2019t love performing\u201d as it \u201cdoesn\u2019t fill my soul\u201d<\/a>. He then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-whos-pete-townshed-not-crazy-about-touring-and-doesnt-have-a-relationship-with-the-guitar-3861782\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doubled down on these comments<\/a> during a press conference in London this month, saying, \u201cEverybody in this room knows the truth, so it would be pointless for me to lie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not crazy about touring. I\u2019ve never really been crazy about touring \u2013 but performing, once I\u2019m on stage, [that\u2019s different]. CREDIT: Press<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the rock icons <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-who-announce-the-song-is-over-2025-farewell-north-american-tour-buy-tickets-3861480\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced details of their \u2018The Song Is Over\u2019 farewell tour<\/a>\u00a0hitting the US and Canada this summer \u2013 while also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/will-the-who-play-the-uk-and-europe-on-their-farewell-tour-the-band-respond-3861523\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">casting doubt over the chances of ever playing in the UK and Europe again<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It also currently seems unlikely that there will be a final album from The Who, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/pete-townshend-whether-the-who-will-make-another-album-3781729\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Townshend last year sharing his desire to do so but seeing \u201ca bit of a river to cross\u201d in convincing Daltrey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/roger-daltrey-on-teenage-cancer-trust-and-the-chances-of-new-music-from-the-who-3410696\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NME\u00a0asked the frontman about the possibility of a new LP in 2023<\/a>, he laughed: \u201cWhat\u2019s the point? What\u2019s the point of records? We released an album four years ago [2019\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/the-who-who-review-13-years-since-their-last-album-this-stands-up-alongside-their-classics-2580985\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018WHO\u2019<\/a>], and it did nothing. It\u2019s a great album too, but there isn\u2019t the interest out there for new music these days. People want to hear the old music.
