There was a massive clean up needed in Monaco after an eleven car pile-up in the Formula 2 feature race.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thankfully no one was injured in the incident that happened just seconds into the junior event hours before the Formula 1<\/a> main race.<\/p>\n

Monaco<\/a> is known to be the hardest track on the calendar to overtake, but a terrible start from pole sitter Alex Dunne allowed second-placed Victor Martins to pass around the outside.<\/p>\n

However, Dunne kept his front wheel in, and made contact with Martins at the first turn, spinning the Frenchman around and crashing into the side of him.<\/p>\n

Such is the tightness of the track that Dunne\u2019s fellow Rodin Motorsport teammate couldn\u2019t avoid hitting the back of him and the story continued down the grid as cars flew over the top of each other in dramatic but thankfully slow speed scenes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a pile up into turn one, a huge incident,\u201d commentator Chris McCarthy said. \u201cIt\u2019s taken a load of drivers out, our championship leader Alex Dunne is out of the race and there\u2019s a red flag.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calling the incident, co-commentator Alex Brundle<\/a> said: \u201cMartins is a long way around the outside of Dunne.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s Martin\u2019s line into the first corner, he\u2019s almost a full car\u2019s length ahead, he\u2019s within his rights to sweep into the apex.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of the 11 cars involved in the incident, four were able to get back to the pitlane and continue after a lengthy red flag clean up.<\/p>\n

McLaren junior driver Dunne simply muttered \u201cOh mate,\u201d over team radio, but had little to complain about after losing his first F2 pole position.<\/p>\n

Exploiting the Irishman\u2019s error was American Jak Crawford who twice mastered the testing conditions.<\/p>\n

Having manoeuvred the lap one incident, he later timed a pitstop to perfection in fourth place, with a safety car call then allowing him to leapfrog the top three into the lead.<\/p>\n

Speaking after his first win of the season, Crawford said: \u201cOh my gosh. That was the race of my dreams.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAvoiding the crash at the start was just the first bit. Around the Safety Car and trying to get into the pits\u2026 Oh my god!\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the craziest thing ever. I\u2019m so lucky, the pace was good too. It was an incredible day.\u201d<\/p>\n

A similar turn one pile up also occurred in the Porsche Supercup pre-race event.<\/p>\n

That was also red flagged as cars scattered across the track.<\/p>\n
