A major emergency response descended on a Tameside street after a woman was bitten by a dog.<\/p>\n

Armed police and an air ambulance were seen following an incident on Stansfield Road, in Hyde<\/a>, this morning (May 25).<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says it was called out to reports of a woman in her 60s being bitten by a dog at 9.20am.<\/p>\n

It’s understood the dog was a chow chow breed. The dog was seized by officers at the scene.<\/p>\n

Armed police were called out to the scene as a precaution, the Manchester Evening News understands.<\/p>\n

There is not thought to be any wider risk to the public and no arrests have been made.<\/p>\n

The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.<\/p>\n

A GMP spokesperson said: “At 9.20am today we were called to reports that a woman had been bitten by a dog on Stansfield Road, Hyde.<\/p>\n

“A woman in her 60s has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.<\/p>\n

“The dog has been contained and seized by police.”<\/p>\n

Witnesses saw an air ambulance landing close to the scene, but it is understood the woman was taken to hospital by land ambulance.<\/p>\n

The scene has since cleared.<\/p>\n
