An eight-year-old boy remains ‘seriously ill’ in hospital two days after he was struck by a car in Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The collision happened in Upton Road, South Yardley<\/a>, at around 8.20pm on Friday, May 23.<\/p>\n

The youngster was rushed to hospital <\/a>where he still remains.<\/p>\n

Officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> said they were helping the force with its investigation into the collision.<\/p>\n

The force told BirminghamLive<\/a> this afternoon that the boy remained “seriously ill”.<\/p>\n

A force spokesperson said: “The child remains seriously ill in hospital.”<\/p>\n

It added that no arrests had been made and that the driver was still helping officers with their investigation.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued to us yesterday, the force said: “We’re investigating after a boy aged eight was injured in a collision with a car in Birmingham<\/a> last night.<\/p>\n

“We were called to Upton Road, South Yardley<\/a>, at around 8.20pm yesterday.<\/p>\n

“The child remains in a serious condition in hospital this afternoon.<\/p>\n

“The driver was spoken to by officers at the scene and is helping with the investigation.<\/p>\n

“We’re appealing for anyone with information, mobile phone or dash-cam footage to come forward quoting log 5191 of May 23.”<\/p>\n
