Several people were injured after fights broke out and caused a stamped at a Memorial Day weekend event in South Carolina.<\/p>\n

At least 10 people were taken to the hospital amid the chaos during a concert at Black Bike Week in Atlantic Beach Saturday night, reported Channel 2 News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Interim Town Manager\u00a0Linda Cheatham released a statement that said an unspecified number of people were hurt.<\/p>\n

‘There were a couple of fights that broke out causing panic in the crowd and several people were injured trying to leave the area,’ Cheatham said.<\/p>\n

‘Adequate police and medical staff were on hand to aid as needed and transport individuals to the hospital.<\/p>\n

‘The music was paused, but the event continued until the festival closing time of 3 a.m.’<\/p>\n

Images from the event shared on social media showed a large police presence among the massive crowds.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Atlantic Beach Interim Police Chief Carlos Castillo told <\/a>WPDE<\/a>\u00a0no information can be released at this time, but he will answer questions later.<\/p>\n

Horry County Police shut down the festival after an argument lead to a stampede, attendee\u00a0Hilton Dewitt told the Sun News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dewitt said around 1 a.m. the argument broke out\u00a0on the street near Ocean Boulevard and caused people to rush towards the stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said ambulances came and then police eventually shut down the concert.<\/p>\n

The Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival, also called Black Bike Week, is expected to draw crowds\u00a0of over 400,000 people.<\/p>\n

This year is the 45th anniversary of the motorcycle rally which includes meet and greets, parties, live music and entertainment.<\/p>\n
