It’s the late May bank holiday weekend in Greater Manchester – and there has been three stabbings in as many days.<\/p>\n

The three knife incidents have left four young men, some only teenagers, in hospital with injuries ranging from serious to life-threatening.<\/p>\n

Police have even been forced to crack down on parts of Manchester, with extra stop and search powers<\/a> being granted.<\/p>\n

Four men, aged 17, 18, 24, and 25, are now all being treated in hospital with stab wounds after the incidents in Moss Side<\/a>, Longsight<\/a> and Droylsden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Friday (May 23) at around 8pm, police were called to reports of a man aged 24 presenting with stab wounds at A&E following an alleged assault on Moss Lane East in Moss Side. No arrests have been made and the man remains in hospital with ‘serious injuries’.<\/p>\n

On Saturday (May 24) at around 5pm, police were called to a disturbance on Stockport<\/a> Road. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found a man and a boy aged 18 and 17 with stab wounds<\/a>. An air ambulance landed next to Polygon Avenue in Ardwick.<\/p>\n

A short while later, a large sheath was handed over to police officers by a member of the public on Lauderdale Crescent.<\/p>\n

Then, today (May 25) at around 2.50pm police were called to reports of a stabbing on Ashton Road<\/a> in Droylsden.<\/p>\n

A 25-year-old man was found with life-threatening stab wounds and was rushed to hospital. A police cordon remains in place, and forensics are at the scene outside the Church Hotel and Metrolink<\/a> Station.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> (GMP) says enquiries relating to the incident are ongoing.<\/p>\n

In relation to the Longsight and Moss Side incidents, GMP said three men, all aged 18, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been taken into custody for questioning.<\/p>\n

A section 60 authority – which grants officers extended powers to stop and search individuals – is in place following the Manchester incidents.<\/p>\n

It covers the area of Stockport Road at the Asda<\/a> junction, Upper Brook street, Princess Road, Platt Lane, and Dickenson Road until 6pm on Sunday (May 25).<\/p>\n

Extra officers and patrols have been deployed in the area to provide a high visibility presence and offer community reassurance.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Richard Struttman, from GMP\u2019s City of Manchester district, said: \u201cWe have authorised a Section 60 where officers will have increased stop and search powers following two incidents in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese incidents have resulted in three male victims being treated in hospital for serious injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have arrested three men on suspicion of affray, and they remain in police custody for questioning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not tolerate anyone causing harm and intimidation in our communities and will ensure that those who participate in this kind of behaviour, will be caught and feel the consequences the law.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be extra officers deployed in the area to offer reassurance to the community. Please feel free to chat with them and let them know your concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n
