The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/nhs\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">NHS<\/a> advises varicose veins are swollen, twisted veins under the skin, usually on the legs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They&#8217;re common and are not usually serious, but there are treatments that can help if they&#8217;re causing problems. Medical doctor Tonie Reincke, founder of the Reincke Vein Center, told GB News: \u201cLeg vein disease has a genetic predisposition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIt cannot be prevented, but certain things can help mitigate symptoms; daily walking, leg elevation, maintaining a healthy weight and minimising salt intake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/midlands-news\/uk-faces-27c-heatwave-next-31696498\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">READ MORE UK faces 27C heatwave next week with 33 counties in England set to sizzle<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cDaily walking, yoga, swimming and stationary bike cycling are all great exercises that help activate the calf pump and push fluid and inflammation out of the legs.\u201d The Mayo Clinic Health System advises anyone who is noticing the veins to change their position frequently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cMoving is better than standing still. Shift your weight often, and stretch or walk around at least every 30 minutes to keep the blood from settling in your veins,\u201d advises the health body.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThere are minimally invasive treatment options if your varicose veins do not respond to these tips,&#8221; states the Mayo Clinic Health System.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cResearch studies have shown that diosmin and flavonoids help interrupt the inflammatory cycle associated with venous insufficiency and reflux, and therefore a decrease in swelling and heaviness may result,&#8221; added Dr Reincke.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The NHS advises: &#8220;Varicose veins are widened veins that look swollen and twisted under the skin. They may feel lumpy and bulge out. They&#8217;re most common on the legs, but you can get them on other parts of your body.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The symptoms may be worse after standing for a long time, and may get better when you rest with your legs up.
