Scores of people are set to take part in the Edinburgh MarathonCredit: Alamy 3<\/p>\n Runners blasted ScotRail for the chaosCredit: John Kirkby – The Sun Glasgow<\/p>\n But many feared missing out on the start as trains<\/a> were packed, leaving not enough space for all of the people on the platform.<\/p>\n ScotRail<\/a> never announced any extra services for the marathon<\/a>, unlike previous years.<\/p>\n Huge crowds of passengers waited on station platforms as carriages quickly filled up.<\/p>\n Some commuters even claimed train crews told them not to let other passengers on when the train stopped.<\/p>\n It sparked fears some runners would miss the start and then not be able to take part in the race<\/a>.<\/p>\n One passenger told The Herald<\/a>: “The train was absolutely rammed and the conductor was telling passengers to ‘protect their space<\/a>‘ if anyone at Polmont or Linlithgow tried to get on. <\/p>\n “She told people standing at the doors to tell folk trying to get on that the train was full and they weren’t allowed.<\/p>\n “It looked like some runners were left stranded.
