On Sunday (May 25), the six-part series returned to the airwaves with another nail-biting development.

Created by Hijack’s Catherine Moulton, the programme sees Strictly Come Dancing star Rose Ayling-Ellis in the lead role of Alison Woods, a deaf worker who has spent years working in a police canteen. Alison’s life is turned upside down when her lip-reading skills catch the attention of DS Ashleigh Francis (Charlotte Richie) and DI James Marsh (Andrew Buchan). The detectives recruit Alison for a covert operation in which she must monitor a dangerous gang who are plotting a high-stakes heist.

The character’s hearing loss is central to the story, offering a rare on-screen representation of deafness in primetime drama. During the third episode, fans watched Alison grow close to Liam Barlow (Kieron Moore), one of the main suspects in the gang case.

The drama turned up another notch when Alison also went against police advice and followed Liam to a gang meeting where she recorded their conversations and read their lips from a distance.

But fans couldn’t help but point out one major fault as she stared intently at the unfolding gang activity. Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – fans fumed: “She makes it so bloody obvious. She has to stop staring at him then texting near him. Aaargh!!”

Another agreed: “This is getting so stupid and far fetched. She is going to get caught out very soon. Staring at people and sending texts. #CodeOfSilence.” A third echoed: “#CodeOfSilence She’s gonna make them suspicious staring at them.”

Elsewhere, fans shared their concerns for Alison, fearing that she could land herself in a whole heap of trouble without the police to back her up.

One viewer fumed: “This is a frustrating watch” while another admitted: “I’m on tenterhooks over here. What’s she playing at?” A third chimed in with concern: “Alison doesn’t known what she’s getting herself into.”

A fourt echoed: “I’ve really tried but I’m just not feeling it… next” as a fifth agreed: “It’s both great and totally f***ing ridiculous at the same time.”

Code of Silence is available to stream on ITVX.

Code of Silence viewers were left up in arms after spotting one annoying habit during the latest instalment…

[3937
58172,50439,58174,58173,58168,58169,77,24445,208,58171,58170,25133,50438,382,16,15
0":"post-132051","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-tv","8":"tag-charlotte-richie-partner","9":"tag-code-of-silence","10":"tag-code-of-silence-tv-series","11":"tag-code-of-silence-when-is-it-on","12":"tag-deaf-representation","13":"tag-death-valley-bbc","14":"tag-entertainment","15":"tag-hearing-loss","16":"tag-itv","17":"tag-itv-tv-guide","18":"tag-rabbit-hole","19":"tag-rose-ayling-ellis","20":"tag-strictly-come-dancing-2024","21":"tag-tv","22":"tag-uk","23":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
