Police are investigating reports of a large fight involving weapons at a popular Northern Ireland beach.<\/p>\n
Reports circulated on Friday night about the fracas between groups of young people at Ballyholme beach near Bangor.<\/p>\n
Videos have circulated online showing youths fighting, with some engaging in punching and kicking.<\/p>\n
One report alleged that a knife had been produced.<\/p>\n
The PSNI said officers were aware of the videos and claims that weapons had been used, and were investigating the reports.<\/p>\n
They dismissed false rumours that spread online that someone had died.<\/p>\n
The PSNI said: \u201cAt around 8.15pm last evening, Friday, we responded to reports of a large fight at Ballyholme beach. Further reports from the area suggested that weapons had been used.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe attended the scene and dealt with a large number of young persons in the area and we remained at the beach dealing with the incident for some time.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur investigation into this incident is at an early stage however, we are aware of a number of videos circulating online showing fights between large groups of people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are asking for witnesses to this incident to come forward and work with us as we investigate and try to identify those responsible.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also aware that there are rumours circulating that following the incident, a male has died – this is not the case and this sort of speculation is not helpful. We are not aware of any serious injuries. People need to responsible when posting online.<\/p>\n
\u201cGood weather is forecast again for today and whilst we want our children and young people to enjoy the warm weather and our open spaces, our message is clear – we will take robust action against those who get involved in any form of anti social behaviour.<\/p>\n
