(opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/tennis\/articles\/c0r5190l88do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">a full-time coaching role.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Raducanu may have settled on a new coach\" height=\"602\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"Getty\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/f8770426-130b-491c-940e-fdd531c93c4a.jpg\" data-caption=\"Raducanu may have settled on a new coach\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/f8770426-130b-491c-940e-fdd531c93c4a.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu may have settled on a new coachCredit: Getty<\/p>\n<p>Petchey was in Raducanu&#8217;s coaching box alongside Jane O&#8217;Donoghue for the 22-year-old&#8217;s impressive run to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open <\/p>\n<p>It was the first time Raducanu had reached the final eight of a WTA 1,000 event in her career and was also the most wins she had picked up in a single tournament since her triumph at Flushing Meadows in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>However, a major hurdle that could prevent a long-term partnership being formalised is Petchey&#8217;s role as a commentator for the Tennis Channel.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu and Petchey previously worked together during the pandemic in 2020 at the National Tennis Centre in London.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old would not be the first British grand slam champion Petchey has coached.<\/p>\n<p>Petchey, 54, previously coached Murray for 10 months when the Scot was 18.<\/p>\n<p>Under Petchey&#8217;s tutelage, Murray won his first ATP title in San Jose in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Murray reeled off the scalps of former grand slam champions Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt on his way to glory in San Jose.<\/p>\n<p>Should Raducanu and Petchey come to an agreement, the 54-year-old would be her first full-time coach after Nick Cavaday stepped down from the role in January due to health reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu spent two weeks working with Vladimir Platenik through Indian Wells but <a href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/tennis\/3041629\/emma-raducanu-coach-two-reasons-shock-split\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Brit ended the partnership<\/a> on the eve of the Miami Open.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Petchey (right) helped Raducanu enjoy her deepest run at a WTA 1,000 event\" height=\"640\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"Getty\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/GETTY_Miami-Open-Presented-by-Itau-2025-Day-7_SPO_GYI2206726620jpg-JS982236177.jpg\" data-caption=\"Petchey (right) helped Raducanu enjoy her deepest run at a WTA 1,000 event\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/GETTY_Miami-Open-Presented-by-Itau-2025-Day-7_SPO_GYI2206726620jpg-JS982236177.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>Petchey (right) helped Raducanu enjoy her deepest run at a WTA 1,000 eventCredit: Getty<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old described Platenik as &#8216;very serious and very professional&#8217; but cautioned the pair still needed to get to know each other better on and off the court.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the BBC, Platenik said he fully understood why Raducanu wanted to call time on their two-week trial.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The world is looking at her after the US Open [which she won in 2021] and everybody is expecting &#8211; including herself &#8211; what she is going to do next,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/tennis\/articles\/cj4nggpk247o\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Platenik said.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So for me it&#8217;s absolutely understandable that she&#8217;s under a lot of pressure. She told me she was feeling stressed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are no hard feelings from my side. She finished the relationship in a fair way, maybe too quickly, but this is tennis, this is sport. We need to respect that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She was not feeling okay, and that was her decision. I didn&#8217;t want to go into deeper communication about that.
