Facebook<\/a> on Saturday (May 24), The Rising Sun wrote: “We\u2019d like to take a moment to address a recent incident that has been shared on social media, and clarify both our policies and the action we\u2019ve taken.<\/p>\n“Our venue operates a Challenge 25 policy on Friday and Saturday evenings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis means that anyone who appears or looks to be under the age of 25 is required to show valid ID if they wish to remain in the venue after 7pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a licensing requirement, and helps us maintain a safe and responsible environment for all guests.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever! We are aware of a situation involving one of the door staff and a guest with a disability, and we want to make it absolutely clear that we do not condone any form of disrespect or discrimination.<\/p>\n
“The individual involved is employed by a third-party security provider, not directly by us, but we were extremely concerned by what was reported and have acted swiftly.<\/p>\n
“That individual has now been removed from our venue, and we are continuing to review the situation to ensure it is handled properly. We are also revisiting staff guidance and expectations to make sure that all members of the team uphold the respectful, inclusive standards we stand for.<\/p>\n
“We take the comfort and dignity of all our guests seriously, and are truly sorry for any upset caused. If you would like to speak to us directly, please feel free to message us or contact us direct.<\/p>\n
