A while back, Rightmove declared that\u00a0London<\/a> commuter town Slough was the nation\u2019s most miserable place to live<\/a>. Now, we return to the capital and its environs to discover the most boring\u00a0places to live in Britain.<\/p>\n

Of all the complaints we tend to have about living in the capital, a lack of stuff to do doesn\u2019t come up very often. Unless, perhaps,\u00a0you live in the aggressively-suburban Surbiton<\/strong>, which was recently named the second most boring place to live in the country by the Telegraph<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The newspaper lists Surbiton\u2019s\u00a0\u2018top tourist attraction\u2019 as its train station, which is never a great sign. In the suburb\u2019s\u00a0defence, however, the art-deco inspired terminal is\u00a0very impressive \u2013 and it even appeared in our own list of the city\u2019s top railway stations<\/a>.\u00a0In other words, having a train station as a top attraction is not quite as depressing as it may first appear.<\/p>\n

Beyond its pretty train station, Surbiton is mostly known for what it\u2019s not. It isn\u2019t on a tube line, and it isn\u2019t as posh as its neighbours. It\u2019s not got the glam or grit of the city, or the comfort of Wimbledon. As described by the Telegraph:\u00a0\u2018Surbiton will be forever boring for those who don\u2019t know it at all.\u2019<\/p>\n

But we reckon that\u2019s a bit harsh. There\u2019s a lovely garden park right in the centre of Surbiton, and a farmer\u2019s market once a month. It\u2019s not Zone 1 living, but it\u2019s not quite the drudge some may make it out to be.<\/p>\n

The only place more dull than Surbiton in the Telegraph\u2019s list\u00a0was Stevenage<\/strong>. The\u00a0newspaper argued that despite having quite an interesting history, going as far back as the Celtic-Saxon era, Stevenage\u00a0relies on its proximity to London to generate interest, resulting in it being known as a place \u2018where everyone is a commuter\u2019.<\/p>\n

But hey, there\u2019s no shame in working in London and living elsewhere. Not everyone fancies paying \u00a31,400 per month for a 6-person flat-share. Still, we must admit: there\u2019s not much going on in Stevenage<\/a>.<\/p>\n
