While looking for an answer we came across a video by fitness influencer Deepti Dhakar suggesting that there indeed is.<\/p>\n<p>In the video, Dhakar said, \u201cBeen doing this for four weeks, and my <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/lifestyle\/fitness\/sonu-sood-abs-core-arms-pull-ups-workout-fitness-gym-9409452\/\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hanging belly<\/a><\/strong> literally reduced by eight inches\u201d, adding that the exercise exclusively targets the belly.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyloading\" decoding=\"async\" data-lazy-type=\"lazyloading-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/track_1x1.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/track_1x1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1px\" height=\"1px\" style=\"display:none;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cStart with raising your leg at a lower level and gradually progress and increase to a higher level,\u201d Dhakar wrote in the caption of the video that shows her doing alternate leg raises.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Since we wanted to know more, we reached out to Dr Udit Kapoor, consultant, Metro Hospital, Faridabad who disagreed and stated a hanging or a protruding belly is due to lifestyle factors, and require a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/lifestyle\/fitness\/mom-to-be-deepika-padukone-pregnancy-yoga-viparita-karani-asana-9432845\/\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">combination of exercises<\/a><\/strong> targeting the core, a healthy diet, and overall cardiovascular activity for reduction.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" class=\"lazyloading wp-image-9488317 size-full\" data-lazy-type=\"lazyloading-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/exercise_600_getty.jpg\" alt=\"exercises\"  \/> You need to do a combination of exercises (Source: Getty Images\/Thinkstock)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpot reduction (losing fat in one specific area through targeted exercises) is largely a myth; instead, a comprehensive approach to weight loss and muscle toning is necessary. It\u2019s always recommended to consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian who can provide personalised advice based on your specific needs and goals.
