It’s no secret that Sir Rod Stewart is a huge Celtic fan and often travels up from his home in Essex to cheer on the Hoops. Over the weekend and following Celtic’s Cup Final defeat, the Maggie May rocker lessened the blow<\/a> by enjoying a bite to eat in on of the city’s top eateries.<\/p>\n

The 80-year-old rocker <\/a>was pictured at The Atlantic Bar and Brasserie in the city centre on Saturday night and delighted staff by posing for photos. The legendary singer was “gracious and upbeat” as he took the time to chat with guests and raise a glass with fellow supporters.<\/p>\n

He’s no stranger to The Atlantic or its sister venue The Anchor Line, where he’s known to be a regular for family occasions and can often be spotted <\/a>enjoying a pre or post-match meal or drink. Let’s take a look at Rod’s favourite spots in Glasgow…<\/p>\n

Murphy’s Irish Bar<\/p>\n

Last year, after Celtic made it through to the Scottish cup final on penalties following a 3-3 draw with Aberdeen after extra time, Sir Rod was spotted in an Irish bar celebrating and even had a singalong with punters.<\/p>\n

He was in high spirits following Celtic<\/a>‘s win and stopped by Murphy’s bar in Merchant City following the match, where he was filmed belting out a rendition to his hit song Maggie May alongside Scottish country star Kevin McGuire.<\/p>\n

Murphy’s appears to be one of Rod’s favourites as he’s visited several times during his trips to Glasgow.<\/p>\n

Kelvingrove Cafe<\/p>\n

Since Sir Rod has his own brand of whisky called Wolfies, he popped into the Kelvingrove Cafe for a cocktail made from Wolfies and a splash of champagne as they became the latest establishment to stock the spirit, which is distilled in Loch Lomond.<\/p>\n

Images showed the star inside the bar posing as he tried out the cocktail. Another showed him at the Celtic vs St Mirren game.<\/p>\n

Glaschu<\/p>\n

Ahead of yet another Celtic game, Rod met up with pals for a wee lunch at Glaschu on Royal Exchange Square. Tam Cowan was amongst pals who were dining out and he wrote about it in his Daily Record column. He said: “Well, that\u2019s the last time I buy dinner for Rod Stewart<\/a>. As you may have seen I recently took him out to a swanky restaurant and, frankly, I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever see a bigger bill unless Barry Manilow has a lovechild with a pelican.<\/p>\n

\u201cHas Sir decided?\u201d asked the waiter as I perused the menu. \u201cWell,\u201d I said, \u201cI\u2019m swithering between the fillet steak\u2026 and paying my mortgage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anchor Line<\/p>\n

To celebrate his son Alastair’s 19th birthday, Rod whisked his son and his pals off to the Anchor Line on St Vincent Place in Glasgow ahead of Celtic’s match against Club Brugge in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Before heading to Celtic Park, they group went for a round of darts in quirky Glasgow<\/a> bar Flight Club located on George Street. Alastair shared some video snippets of the boys getting competitive as the drinks continued flowing.<\/p>\n

The model posted more updates on his Instagram page at the Hoops game before having a drink in popular city centre venue, Wunderbar – however Rod, 80, didn’t join the boys at Wunderbar.<\/p>\n

Raddison Red<\/p>\n

Sir Rod was spotted enjoying a night out with his wife Penny at the swanky Glasgow rooftop bar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Maggie May singer was pictured chilling with friends at the city’s Radisson Red hotel.<\/p>\n

Celtic-daft Rod and Penny were joined by old pal Johnny McLaughlin, who has been providing support for the rocker during some of his last UK tour with band Johnny Mac and The Faithful.<\/p>\n

Sharing the snap on Instagram, delighted staff at the hotel wrote: “It was a pleasure to welcome @sirrodstewart<\/a> & @penny.lancaster<\/a> to RED at the weekend along with our good friend @johnnymacandthefaithful<\/a>! #SpecialGuest<\/a> #RodStewart<\/a> #Glasgow<\/a> #RadissonRED<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Sir Rod often travels around to follow his team and even visited the team’s training ground in Lennoxtown earlier this week, as he got down and dirty washing the football strips<\/a> training was in town for Celtic’s impressive 6-1 win against Hibs and visited a number of landmarks in the city. The Hoops-daft singer had worked up an appetite after ` .<\/a> Bella Vita on Mosspark Boulevard in the Southside<\/p>\n

Da Claudio<\/p>\n

Rod even travels to Celtic’s away days too and in 2020, he travelled to Motherwell for a game but stopped off in the town’s most popular restaurant Da Claudio.<\/p>\n

The Italian restaurant, who have been in the town for over 30 years, previously spoke to The Record<\/a> and revealed exactly what Sir Rod picked from their delicious menu.<\/p>\n

Owner Arthur Goff said: \u201cI knew beforehand that he was coming, we got a call to say he had been recommended to us which was really nice to hear. I had an idea it would be before the Celtic and Motherwell game.\u201d<\/p>\n

He arrived along with four others, much to the surprise of diners in the restaurant.<\/p>\n

Arthur said: \u201cThey arrived straight from the airport. Everyone was shocked and couldn\u2019t believe this global star was dining in our restaurant in Motherwell! I still can’t believe it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey had a range of starters and he had the Scalloppina di Vitello alla Milanese, which is escalopes of veal breaded and pan fried in olive oil and rosemary, served with spaghetti pomodoro.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Arthur said he couldn\u2019t leave without a little sing-along. He said: \u201cThere were a group of ladies eating and on his way out Rod got pictures with them and sang them a few lines of Maggie May. He was brilliant. He got more pictures before shooting off to Fir Park.\u201d<\/p>\n
