London has been chosen to host the ninth edition of the Laver Cup<\/strong>, with the event set to return to The O2<\/strong> in 2026.<\/p>\n

Laver Cup<\/a><\/strong> said that the event pits six of the best men\u2019s players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the World over three days of intense team competition.<\/p>\n

The tournament, named in honor of Australian tennis legend Rod Laver<\/strong>, is played on a dramatic black court that will be constructed within The O2<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The venue was the scene of one of the most unforgettable moments in tennis history when Roger Federer<\/strong> brought his legendary career to a close at the 2022 edition of the Laver Cup<\/strong> in front of a packed London crowd alongside his longtime rivals Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic<\/strong> and Andy Murray<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The O2<\/strong>, is the world\u2019s most popular live entertainment, leisure, and retail destination and has been visited by over 100 million people since opening in 2007.<\/p>\n

Its iconic arena welcomes over 200 events a year and was host to the ATP<\/a><\/strong> World Tour Finals<\/strong> from 2009 to 2020 as well as the Laver Cup<\/strong> in 2022.<\/p>\n

Laver Cup Chairman <\/strong>and TEAM8 CEO Tony Godsick<\/strong> said, \u201cWe are thrilled to be bringing the Laver Cup<\/strong> back to London, one of the world\u2019s great sporting cities. London set a new benchmark in 2022, delivering one of the most successful and emotional editions of the event to date.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we\u2019ve traditionally taken the Laver Cup<\/strong> to new cities around the world each year, the response from London \u2013 from fans, partners and players \u2013 was truly overwhelming. The appetite to see Laver Cup<\/strong> return was impossible to ignore, and we\u2019re excited to once again bring this unique tennis event back to The O2<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since its debut in Prague in 2017, the Laver Cup<\/strong> has been staged in Chicago (2018), Geneva (2019), Boston (2021), London (2022), Vancouver (2023), Berlin (2024) and this year will be held at Chase Center<\/strong> in San Francisco from September 19-21.<\/p>\n

Team Europe lead the head-to-head 5-2 and the London 2026 edition will mark the fifth time Europe has held the \u2018home advantage\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the owner and operator of The O2<\/strong>, AEG<\/strong> is equally excited to see the Laver Cup<\/strong> return to London following the success of the event in 2022 and in 2024 at AEG Europe\u2019s Uber Arena<\/strong> in Berlin.<\/p>\n

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan<\/strong> said, \u201cLondon is now the undisputed sporting capital of the world, and I\u2019m absolutely delighted that the Laver Cup<\/strong> is coming to The O2<\/strong> next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis renowned tennis competition has featured many of the greats of the game and it\u2019s an honour for London to become the first city to stage the event twice.<\/p>\n

Team Europe<\/strong> Vice Captain Tim Henman<\/strong> agrees. \u201cBritish fans are passionate about tennis and the atmosphere at The O2<\/strong> in 2022 was electric,\u201d said the former British No.1.<\/p>\n
