Over the past years, especially in 2023 and 2024, we have lost control of our public finances,&#8221; the court&#8217;s president, Pierre Moscovici, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RTLFrance\/status\/1926878692522737673\" target=\"_blank\"> said in an interview Monday with radio station RTL<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s state budget deficit has ballooned in recent years, reaching\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/196714\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5.8 percent of gross domestic product in 2024<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 well over the 3 percent limit set by European Union rules.
