Angel Cabrera admitted he felt ‘very emotional’ after claiming his second senior major on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Argentine golfer claimed victory at the Senior PGA Championship in Maryland.<\/p>\n

His win at the Congressional Country Club was his second in the space of a week.<\/p>\n

It followed a maiden senior major triumph at the Regions Tradition seven days earlier.<\/p>\n

Cabrera ended the weekend eight-under-par after a final round 69 to finish a shot clear of Padraig Harrington and Thomas Bjorn.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old now has three wins to his name on the Champions Tour, with all three coming in the last five events.<\/p>\n

In the process, he has scooped $1.26million (\u00a3930,000) in prize money from those victories alone.<\/p>\n

It comes less than two years after his release from prison after serving 30 months behind bars.<\/p>\n

Cabrera had been convicted for assault and threats against a former partner before being released in August 2023.<\/p>\n

He was cleared to return to PGA Tour events<\/a> four months later and has now recaptured his form on the senior circuit.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his latest win, Cabrera admitted: “I feel very emotional. Maybe you cannot see, but I\u2019m very very emotional inside. Especially after all of the things that I went through.”<\/p>\n

The two-time Major winner added: “I thought that I was going to fail, especially after sitting without touching a club for a while.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve been working very, very hard and I feel that all the hard work pays off and this is what I\u2019m having right now.”<\/p>\n

Cabrera previously won the 2007 US Open and 2009 Masters earlier in his career.<\/p>\n

He made his return to Augusta National<\/a> in April, his first appearance since being released from prison.<\/p>\n

However, he failed to make the cut after finishing on 11-over-par at the end of the second round.<\/p>\n

Cabrera could still add more senior major wins this year after scooping the first two championships of the year.<\/p>\n

His next opportunity to do so will come at the Senior Players Championship at Firestone between June 19 and 22.<\/p>\n

The US Senior Open is then scheduled for the following weekend, with Broadmoor in Colorado serving as host.<\/p>\n
