Rafael Nadal has revealed he received a text message from Andy Murray after experiencing heartbreak last month when Arsenal sent his beloved Real Madrid side crashing out of the Champions League.<\/p>\n

The Gunners won 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg, with Declan Rice scoring twice and Mikel Merino also on target.<\/p>\n

And they then beat Real 2-1 at the Bernabeu in the second fixture following second half goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.<\/p>\n

Nadal is a huge Real Madrid fan and has even been tipped to potentially become president of the club one day.<\/p>\n

Arsenal went on to lose to PSG in the semi-finals of the competition.<\/p>\n

And Nadal has now opened up on what Murray, who is a huge Gunners supporter, texted him after the frustrating tesult.<\/p>\n

He stated: \u201cMy good friend Andy, we were not in touch for a while.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe day that Arsenal beat Real Madrid, when the match just finished, after one second, he text me a message, telling me, \u2018Hey, Rafa, haven\u2019t spoken to you in a while. Just checking in to make sure you are okay.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cSo honestly, [it] takes me like five seconds to realise what I was reading, because at the beginning, I said, \u2018Okay, he\u2019s such a nice guy. He\u2019s asking about how I\u2019m doing, family.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter five seconds, I said, \u2018This British sense of humour.\u2019 By the way, I didn\u2019t text him back when PSG beat Arsenal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arsenal haven’t won a trophy since 2020.<\/p>\n

They remain adamant that Mikel Arteta is the right man for the job, however, with the Spaniard sent to spend big on reinforcements.<\/p>\n

As for Real, they endured a rare trophyless season under Carlo Ancelotti.<\/p>\n

Real have already taken action, with the Spanish titans agreeing a deal with Bournemouth for defender Dean Huijsen.<\/p>\n

They’re also expected to seal a deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has already announced his departure from Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Nadal was emotional on Sunday at a special French Open ceremony for the 14-time winner.<\/p>\n

The tennis star was joined by Murray, as well as Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, for the special event.<\/p>\n

Nadal, fighting back tears, said: “At the end, now, it’s all about being happy about everything that we achieved.<\/p>\n

“At the end, all of us achieved our dreams.”<\/p>\n

Turning to his old rivals, he added: “After all these years fighting for everything, it’s unbelievable how time changes the perspective of everything.<\/p>\n

“You don’t know yet, Novak. Probably you know already, Andy. With Roger, we have talked about it a couple times.<\/p>\n
