On a mission to slim down<\/a> and change her life ahead of her preparations to say \u2018I Do\u2019<\/a> next month, the young woman decided to see what fat jabs<\/a> were about and placed her first Mounjaro<\/a> order in October 2024.<\/p>\n

Now, just seven months later, Kenidee, who is from Oxford<\/a>, UK<\/a>, and was a size 20<\/a> prior to using the medication, has lost 4 stone and has slimmed down to a healthy size 14.<\/p>\n

Not only has losing weight<\/a> had immense mental benefits<\/a> for this stay-at-home mum, but she now has a \u201cquiet mind\u201d and feels \u201cconfident and happy\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Having said that, it hasn\u2019t all been smooth sailing for this blonde beauty<\/a>, who now has plans to come off of Mounjaro<\/a>, which is regarded by some as the King Kong of weight loss jabs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here, Kenidee exclusively opens up to Fabulous<\/a> on her Mounjaro journey<\/a>, as well as revealing the foul side effects she has experienced, including nasty eggy burps<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kenidee explains: \u201cThis journey has been so much more than just weight loss for me.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mental health<\/a> has improved massively and my life has completely changed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI went from being anxious, depressed, constantly stressed, exhausted and self conscious to feeling free, confident and happy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI never realised how miserable I was until I look back and see how far I\u2019ve come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kenidee claims that Mounjaro<\/a> \u201ctruly changed her life\u201d and she \u201ccan\u2019t imagine\u201d where she would be if she didn\u2019t place her first order.<\/p>\n

While many typically associate headaches and constipation with Mounjaro<\/a>, Kenidee shares her experience of nausea, bloating and the dreaded sulfur burps<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The content creator<\/a> admits: \u201cI have had sulfur burps and bloating<\/a> on and off and recently nausea.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sulfur burps and bloating started from week five.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSulfur burps are a foul-tasting burp (many people refer to them as eggy burps).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey happen on and off now depending on what I eat<\/a> – if I eat garlic or spicy foods that tends to trigger them for me.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI always had chewing gum or Mentos on me so it wasn\u2019t something I was embarrassed about, but it was a foul taste.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where nausea is concerned, Kenidee recognises: \u201cThe nausea started from week 27 when I started 10mg.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI start to feel nauseous the day after a jab day and it usually lasts around 24 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weight loss jabs are all the rage as studies and patient stories reveal they help people shed flab at almost unbelievable rates, as well as appearing to reduce the risk of serious diseases.<\/p>\n

Wegovy \u2013 a modified version of type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic \u2013 and Mounjaro are the leading weight loss injections used in the UK.<\/p>\n

Wegovy, real name semaglutide, has been used on the NHS for years while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a newer and more powerful addition to the market. <\/p>\n

Mounjaro accounts for most private prescriptions for weight loss and is set to join Wegovy as an NHS staple this year.<\/p>\n

How do they work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The jabs work by suppressing your appetite, making you eat less so your body burns fat for energy instead and you lose weight.<\/p>\n

They do this my mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which signals to the brain when the stomach is full, so the drugs are officially called GLP-1 receptor agonists.<\/p>\n

They slow down digestion and increase insulin production, lowering blood sugar, which is why they were first developed to treat type 2 diabetes in which patients’ sugar levels are too high.<\/p>\n

Can I get them?<\/strong><\/p>\n

NHS prescriptions of weight loss drugs, mainly Wegovy and an older version called Saxenda (chemical name liraglutide), are controlled through specialist weight loss clinics.<\/p>\n

Typically a patient will have to have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, classifying them as medically obese, and also have a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure.<\/p>\n

GPs generally do not prescribe the drugs for weight loss.<\/p>\n

Private prescribers offer the jabs, most commonly Mounjaro, to anyone who is obese (BMI of 30+) or overweight (BMI 25-30) with a weight-related health risk.<\/p>\n

Private pharmacies have been rapped for handing them out too easily and video calls or face-to-face appointments are now mandatory to check a patient is being truthful about their size and health.<\/p>\n

Are there any risks?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes \u2013 side effects are common but most are relatively mild.<\/p>\n

Around half of people taking the drug experience gut issues, including sickness, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhoea.<\/p>\n

Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical consultant at patient.info, said: \u201cOne of the more uncommon side effects is severe acute pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and happens to one in 500 people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other uncommon side effects include altered taste, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and hypoglycemia.<\/p>\n

Evidence has so far been inconclusive about whether the injections are damaging to patients’ mental health.<\/p>\n

Figures obtained by The Sun show that, up to January 2025, 85 patient deaths in the UK were suspected to be linked to the medicines.<\/p>\n

Having said that, Kenidee, who is on a mission to lose an extra stone, acknowledges: \u201cIt\u2019s definitely bearable and manageable for me with eating little and often.\u201d<\/p>\n

To top things off, Kenidee has also dealt with \u201cuncomfortable\u201d bloating, as she adds: \u201cIt was uncomfortable but went away when I took probiotics or peppermint oil capsules.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt never lasted too long at one time and it rarely happens now luckily.\u201d<\/p>\n

No exercise or drastic dieting <\/p>\n

While many will find themselves sweating in the gym<\/a> to assist their weight loss alongside fat jabs, this mother hasn’t done a minute of exercise.<\/p>\n

She tells us: “I’ve upped my steps to about 8,000 a day, but I haven’t done any exercise.” <\/p>\n

She hasn’t stepped foot in a gym but has made some very slight changes to her diet.<\/p>\n

The aspiring influencer reveals: “I’ve not had drastic changes in my diet but I have naturally been making better choices and the Mounjaro has helped\u00a0me make those better choices. <\/p>\n

“I’m not having takeaways<\/a> and limiting unhealthy snacks all the time – before I was eating quite a few takeaways every week and eating quite unhealthy\u00a0snacks.<\/p>\n

“I don’t restrict anything, but the Mounjaro has suppressed\u00a0those food thoughts<\/a> so I’m not craving the unhealthy\u00a0options.” <\/p>\n

With just a few weeks to go until Kenidee walks down the aisle, she has now made the decision to pause her Mounjaro use, as advised by professionals.<\/p>\n

What are the other side effects of weight loss jabs?<\/p>\n

Like any medication, weight loss jabs can have side effects. <\/p>\n

Common side effects of injections such as Ozempic include: <\/p>\n

Nausea<\/strong>: This is the most commonly reported side effect, especially when first starting the medication. It often decreases over time as your body adjusts.<\/p>\n

Vomiting<\/strong>: Can occur, often in conjunction with nausea.<\/p>\n

Diarrhea<\/strong>: Some people experience gastrointestinal upset.<\/p>\n

Constipation<\/strong>: Some individuals may also experience constipation.<\/p>\n

Stomach pain or discomfort<\/strong>: Some people may experience abdominal pain or discomfort.<\/p>\n

Reduced appetite<\/strong>: This is often a desired effect for people using Ozempic for weight loss.<\/p>\n

Indigestion<\/strong>: Can cause a feeling of bloating or discomfort after eating.<\/p>\n

Serious side effects can also include:<\/p>\n

Pancreatitis<\/strong>: In rare cases, Ozempic may increase the risk of inflammation of the pancreas, known as pancreatitis, which can cause severe stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting.<\/p>\n

Kidney problems<\/strong>: There have been reports of kidney issues, including kidney failure, though this is uncommon.<\/p>\n

Thyroid tumors<\/strong>: There\u2019s a potential increased risk of thyroid cancer, although this risk is based on animal studies. It is not confirmed in humans, but people with a history of thyroid cancer should avoid Ozempic.<\/p>\n

Vision problems<\/strong>: Rapid changes in blood sugar levels may affect vision, and some people have reported blurry vision when taking Ozempic.<\/p>\n

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)<\/strong>: Especially if used with other medications like sulfonylureas or insulin.<\/p>\n

But she explains: “I don’t think I’ll be able to go the rest of my life without\u00a0Mounjaro.<\/p>\n

“The food noise and obsessive food thoughts have come back massively.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a huge battle in my brain, it’s quite exhausting\u00a0trying to fight it off.” <\/p>\n

‘Look like a different person’ <\/p>\n

Since shedding the pounds, Kenidee has proudly shared her weight loss transformation<\/a> online and has been met with a flood of complimentary comments on her \u201cincredible\u201d new look.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One person said: \u201cYou look incredible!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cWow, love it! You’re looking fab.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a third commented: \u201cWow, what a transformation! Your dedication is truly motivating!\u201d<\/p>\n

And at the same time, someone else beamed: \u201cYou look like a whole different person<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Potential to kill’<\/strong><\/p>\n

But although Kenidee\u2019s weight loss has left many very impressed, users should note that Mounjaro can have fatal consequences.<\/p>\n

Sun GP<\/a> Dr Zoe Williams<\/a> acknowledged that Mounjaro, which could soon be rolled out on the NHS<\/a>, can save the lives of people with \u201clife-threatening levels of obesity<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

But despite this, the NHS<\/a> said: \u201cNever take an anti-obesity medicine<\/a> if it has not been prescribed to you.<\/p>\n

“These types of medicines may not be safe for you and can cause serious side effects.\u201d<\/p>\n

Around half a million Brits use weight loss drugs<\/a> – and this number is expected to double in the next year.<\/p>\n

Mounjaro<\/a> works by suppressing \u00adyour appetite<\/a>, making you feel fuller for longer.<\/p>\n

The injections are licensed for patients with type 2 diabetes<\/a> and to assist those who are clinically obese (with a Body Mass Index<\/a> of 30 or over).<\/p>\n

One jab is administered every seven days but the duration is dependent on someone\u2019s weight.<\/p>\n

The drugs<\/a> can be prescribed by a practitioner – such as a doctor, nurse or a pharmacist-independent prescriber.<\/p>\n

But increasingly, many have been buying them through online pharmacies<\/a> without sufficient checks.<\/p>\n

Recently, figures from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency revealed fat jabs<\/a> had been linked to 82 deaths across the UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As a result, the family of a man from Burton upon Trent, Staffs, who died after taking Mounjaro, are now calling for a probe into the jab’s “potential to kill.”<\/a><\/p>\n
