Staff at the Ministry of Innovation, Business and Employment’s Wellington office have been asked to work remotely for over a week due to a burst pipe.<\/p>\n
MBIE confirmed its Stout Street Wellington office would remain closed after the burst on the second floor men’s bathroom on Sunday.<\/p>\n
People were directed to work remotely or at an alternative MBIE office on Monday and later told this would extend until the third of June.<\/p>\n
The manager for workplace safety and security for MBIE David Griffith said a damage assessment was ongoing.<\/p>\n
“The safety of our people comes first,” Griffith said.<\/p>\n
He said staff should expect further updates throughout the week.<\/p>\n
RNZ reached out to building’s owner for comment.<\/p>\n
