Emmerdale <\/a>is set to welcome a brand new farmer in the form of newcomer Celia (Jaye Griffiths), who wastes little time in making her presence felt \u2013 as Moira Dingle<\/a> (Natalie J Robb<\/a>) will find out the hard way. <\/p>\n

With her reputation proceeding her, Celia arrives in the village in upcoming scenes to ask Moira if she can rent two of her fields. <\/p>\n

Despite her financial issues on the farm<\/a> in the wake of the slurry leak<\/a>, Moira is keen to avoid having to deal with Celia, having heard whispers about her previously. <\/p>\n

Moira is right to be concerned as soon afterwards Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt<\/a>) is brutally attacked and hospitalised by one of Celia\u2019s guard dogs. <\/p>\n

And let\u2019s just say that Celia\u2019s reaction to the attack will allow audiences to get the measure of her, with her true colours subsequently coming to light. <\/p>\n

With the Barton and the Sugden clans having long established themselves within the community, Celia soon finds herself immersed in conflict as she rents a neighbouring farm from Kim Tate<\/a> (Claire King<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The Bill star Jaye Griffiths, who played Sally Johnson on the long-running ITV detective drama, will take on the role of Celia. <\/p>\n

\u2018I was delighted to get this role,\u2019 she said. \u2018Without giving the game away she is very different to anyone I have played before and I can\u2019t wait to really get into the heart of her storyline.\u2019<\/p>\n

Consider us very intrigued. <\/p>\n

Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw added: \u2018We are absolutely delighted to have Jaye Griffiths joining us to play the role of Celia. Having recently taken over a nearby farm, not much is known about mysterious Celia\u2019s past before arriving on the outskirts of the village. <\/p>\n

\u2018While Celia has a tough edge with an air of respectability, the audience, and our villagers, will soon start to see what this woman is truly capable of.\u2019<\/p>\n

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX. <\/strong><\/p>\n
