Clubs from England and across Europe have come together to show their support for Liverpool following their trophy parade.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Horrific scenes following the event on Monday saw a car drive into a crowd of people in the city.<\/p>\n

A 53-year-old man has been arrested<\/a> with 27 people hospitalised as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, Liverpool released a statement on social media confirming they were in contact with Merseyside Police.<\/p>\n

The post on X read: “We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening.<\/p>\n

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident.<\/p>\n

“We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident.”<\/p>\n

The club have also postponed a number of international staff events planned for Tuesday to celebrate their title victory.<\/p>\n

A host of clubs have responded by offering their condolences and support to those involved.<\/p>\n

Tottenham responded by stating: “The thoughts of everyone at Tottenham Hotspur are with all those affected by today’s incident in Liverpool.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Arsenal commented: “The thoughts of everyone at Arsenal are with the city of Liverpool and those affected.”<\/p>\n

Arne Slot’s former club Feyenoord added a love heart emoji whilst writing: “For Liverpool and everyone involved…”<\/p>\n

French side Lyon also wrote: “All our thoughts are with Liverpool FC and everyone affected by the incident on Walter Street.”<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at around 6pm following Liverpool’s trophy parade.<\/p>\n

Fans had lined the streets of the city to celebrate the club’s 20th league title.<\/p>\n

There have been no recorded fatalities at this time.<\/p>\n

Merseyside Police have confirmed the arrest of a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area believed to be the driver.<\/p>\n

A statement from the force read: “We were contacted at just after 18:00 today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.<\/p>\n

“The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.”<\/p>\n

Mayor of the Liverpool city region, Steve Rotheram, told talkSPORT on Tuesday morning: \u201cMost people are still in shock. It was a fantastic day and a brilliant occasion for the city to showcase what it’s famous for, and that’s for people enjoying themselves. <\/p>\n

“It was a real party, a huge outpouring of joy, of elation, of jubilation at the coach going past.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiterally about one or two minutes after the coach goes past, then there’s another incident, and that overshadows all of the wonderful things that were happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts have to be with those people who were seriously injured.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer is being kept updated on the incident.<\/p>\n

He wrote on X: “The scenes in Liverpool are appalling – my thoughts are with all those injured or affected.<\/p>\n

“I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident.”<\/p>\n

Former Liverpool player and manager Sir Kenny Dalglish said: “Shocked, horrified and deeply saddened about what happened at the end of the parade today.<\/p>\n

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone and their families who have been impacted by today’s tragic event. Our anthem has never felt more appropriate, You’ll Never Walk Alone. Your Liverpool family are behind you.”<\/p>\n

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher wrote on X: “Devastating end to the day… just pray everyone is ok”, while ex-Reds striker Robbie Fowler posted: “Heartbreaking news… absolutely sickened with what’s happened here in Liverpool.”<\/p>\n

Monday’s incident mars what had been a day of celebration for Liverpool and their supporters.<\/p>\n
