Villagers can have their say on plans for new homes in a Solihull village.<\/p>\n

Applicant Richard Mees has applied to build eight homes on land at the junction of Browns Lane And Widney Road in Bentley Heath<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The application, for outline planning permission and access, was submitted to Solihull Council<\/a> on April 30.<\/p>\n

A masterplan included with the application reveals the homes are proposed to be a mix of four detached and four semi-detached two storey homes with a new road, off Brown Lane, providing access.<\/p>\n

A planning statement from Richard Cobb, the agent for the applicant, says the land is an \u201cunused site of around 0.39 hectares in the green belt located on the north western edge of Bentley Heath”.<\/p>\n

The agent says Browns Lane is a \u201chighly sustainable location\u201d due to its proximity to a range of services and facilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe application proposals would add further homes to bolster the significant shortfall in housing supply in Solihull<\/a>,” the agent says.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe proposal is not inappropriate development and represents appropriate development in the green belt.<\/p>\n

\u201cApproval of the application would assist the council in improving the supply of housing without impinging on the wider green belt in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matters such as layout, scale, landscaping and appearance of the dwellings would form a ‘reserved matters’ application which would need to be submitted at a later date if Solihull planners give the go-ahead.<\/p>\n

It is currently unclear whether a decision will be made by council officers or if the application would be determined by the authority\u2019s planning committee.<\/p>\n

A consultation is now underway with a closing date for submissions of June 11.<\/p>\n
