Federico Chiesa has paid tribute to Liverpool supporters as he thanked them for his \u2018amazing\u2019 chant during a \u2018tough\u2019 first season at Anfield<\/a>. The Italian has been limited to a bit-part role since joining the Reds from Juventus last summer, but is still a popular figure amongst the club\u2019s fanbase.<\/p>\n The forward made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, but only six of his outings have come in the English top-flight. Meanwhile, he had to wait until the penultimate game of the season away at Brighton & Hove Albion to be handed his first Premier League<\/a> start by Arne Slot<\/a>.<\/p>\n Chiesa<\/a> was then left out of the matchday squad for Liverpool<\/a>\u2019s final game of the season as they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Liverpool FC release official statement after car driven into people during trophy parade<\/a>READ MORE: Jamie Carragher shares heartfelt message after car driven into people at Liverpool parade<\/a><\/p>\n But that did not stop him from being at the heart of the celebrations, albeit perhaps somewhat sheepishly, as the Liverpool squad celebrated being presented with the trophy with supporters.<\/p>\n Chiesa\u2019s new chant, sang to the tune of ‘Sway’ by Dean Martin, has proven to be one of the unofficial soundtracks to the Reds\u2019 Premier League title success in recent weeks, and was again given a loud airing at Anfield during the celebrations.<\/p>\n The Liverpool squad joined supporters in an impromptu rendition of the Italian\u2019s catchy chant as they jumped on top of Chiesa in front of the Kop.<\/p>\n The song was then regularly heard being sung on Bank Holiday Monday during the club\u2019s open top bus parade.<\/p>\n Chiesa was interviewed by LFC TV during the parade, and while he admitted it had been a difficult season for him at Liverpool, he paid tribute to supporters and his team-mates as he admitted his fondness for his chant.<\/p>\n \u201cThe song is… I have to thank the fans because I didn’t play that much this year but to receive this love back from the fans is just amazing,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I have to thank them and the song actually has a good tune!<\/p>\n \u201cI’m so proud of the team. When I first came here, they just tried to immediately make me feel part of the team and supported me even during the tough time I had this year.<\/p>\n \u201cI have to thank them all. I’m a team-mate. I’m one of the boys. Even if I didn\u2019t play, in the training session, I try to give my best.<\/p>\n \u201cToday is unbelievable, to celebrate such a trophy with the fans and be on the bus with all the lads. It\u2019s just incredible. We deserve it.<\/p>\n \u201cMy team-mates were incredible this year. Thanks to the coach and the staff, it was an amazing achievement and they truly deserve to celebrate with the fans today.<\/p>\n \u201cI never won a championship (before), so I don\u2019t know [(how it compares). For the European one (Euro 2020 with Italy) it was really, really good but today, the city is just crazy, just madness out there.
