{"id":136645,"date":"2025-05-27T19:03:16","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T19:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/136645\/"},"modified":"2025-05-27T19:03:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T19:03:16","slug":"flood-warnings-near-bristol-after-heavy-rainfall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/136645\/","title":{"rendered":"Flood warnings near Bristol after heavy rainfall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Areas of the coastline are at risk of flooding<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_AD_27-05-2025_floodalerts_04JPG.jpg\" alt=\"Flood alerts issued in the South West.\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Flood alerts issued in the South West.(Image: Environment Agency)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Flood alerts have been issued near Bristol for the next 24 hours due to high tides.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As some parts of the region were affected by rainfall, two alerts were issued near the city, and a third issued further down the coast, which has some areas of the coastline at risk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/weather\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">flood alert<\/a> was issued north of Bristol, affecting the Severn Estuary at Severn Beach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A large tidal surge is expected and there may be &#8220;overtopping and onshore flooding&#8221; as a result of the high water levels, according to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/environment\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Environment<\/a> Agency (EA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The first forecast of the high water is at 7.15pm tonight (Tuesday, May 27).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_AD_27-05-2025_floodalerts_03JPG.jpg\" alt=\"Flooding could affect the Severn Beach area.\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Flooding could affect the Severn Beach area.(Image: Environment Agency)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The forecast tide level is 7.13 mAOD with westerly force seven winds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The areas most at risk include the Severn Estuary at Severn Beach. This includes New Passage and Pilning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">EA said: &#8220;A large tidal surge is expected with possible overtopping and onshore flooding as a result of high water levels.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_AD_27-05-2025_floodalertsJPG.jpg\" alt=\"Flooding could affect a wide area of Clevedon.\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Flooding could affect a wide area of Clevedon.(Image: Environment Agency)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A second flood alert has been issued for the coast at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/clevedon\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Clevedon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The EA posted that part of the town, stretching past Tickenham, may be affected by flooding tonight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">High tide is expected at 7.15pm with flooding possible between 5.15pm and 9.15pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The flood alert area is between Gullhouse Point and Marine Parade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The tidal forecast said the peak level is expected at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/avonmouth\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Avonmouth<\/a> at 7.15pm, reaching 7.14 mAODN, with westerly force seven winds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There is no property flooding expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">EA said: &#8220;After the high tide this evening, the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/weather\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">weather<\/a> is more settled and no flooding is expected. We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_AD_27-05-2025_floodalerts_02JPG.jpg\" alt=\"Flooding could affect the coastline at Porlock Weir tomorrow morning.\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Flooding could affect the coastline at Porlock Weir tomorrow morning.(Image: Environment Agency)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Further down into Somerset, a third flood alert is in force for tomorrow morning as high tides at Porlock Weir may result in flooding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The high tide is expected at 7.15am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There is a risk of roads and low lying land being flooded, however, flooding of properties is not expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The tidal forecast said the peak level is expected at Hinkley at 7.15am, reaching 6.11 mAODN, with westerly force six winds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The areas most at risk include the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point, including Porlock Weir.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">EA said: &#8220;After the high tide tomorrow morning, the weather is more settled and no flooding is expected.
