I also kept my babies\u2019 names a secret until they were born, and it\u2019s just an easy way to protect your peace and happiness. (Even though some people still have words after your baby is born, like my grandfather, who called my son Liam \u201cIan\u201d because he liked that name better.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOf course, Markle has had her fair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheknows.com\/parenting\/slideshow\/2950688\/princess-lilibet-name-controversy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">share of controversy<\/a> surrounding her daughter\u2019s name, which is the nickname Prince Harry\u2019s late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II used. During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honor. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis isn\u2019t surprising, as it is tradition to check with the monarch before officially deciding on a child\u2019s name. Royal commenter Kate Williams told <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2018\/04\/23\/europe\/what-will-the-royal-baby-be-named-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">CNN<\/a> previously that the Queen had an \u201cinformal\u201d say in the naming of her great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIn the case of names, it is more of an informal conversation,\u201d Williams told the outlet after Prince Harry\u2019s brother Prince William and wife Kate Middleton announced the birth of their third son Prince Louis, but hadn\u2019t released his name yet. \u201cOf course, they have such respect for the Queen that if she says, \u2018I really don\u2019t like that name,\u2019 they\u2019d definitely take that into account.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tObviously in the Sussexes case, it was a good thing that they shared their potential name before their baby was born.
