Matheus Cunha played his final game for Wolves on Sunday as his transfer to Manchester United inches closer. <\/strong><\/p>\n

After 92 appearances and 33 goals, Cunha said his goodbyes to the Wolves fans<\/a> at Molineux<\/a> and sent a message to the supporters on Instagram, thanking them for their support over the years. <\/p>\n

Cunha even bought a Rolex watch for Joao Gomes<\/a>, sending appreciation for his Brazilian teammate with a parting gift ahead of his switch to Old Trafford. <\/p>\n

The 26-year-old has agreed a five-year contract at Man United, despite interest from clubs who qualified for Europe, including Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa. <\/p>\n

Although United are in their worst position as a club for decades, Cunha<\/a> will be motivated to fire them back to their best, with the Red Devils paying him handsomely to do so. <\/p>\n

In January, Cunha signed a new contract at Wolves<\/a> to protect them from losing their prized asset midway through the season. <\/p>\n

Cunha said he wants to level up his career by leaving Wolves to join Man United, but realistically, the Brazilian is taking a huge risk. <\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim\u2019s men just finished 15th in the Premier League table, only ahead of Wolves on goal difference, and they also missed out on the Champions League after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final. <\/p>\n

The only attraction for Cunha to join United currently is the money, and perhaps the motivation behind firing them back into European contention. <\/p>\n

What reception Wolves fans will give Cunha on his return<\/p>\n

The transfer window isn\u2019t even open yet, but this Cunha saga has been drawn out, with a deal expected to be officially announced next week. <\/p>\n

Cunha could have left Wolves<\/a> a legend, but unfortunately, he jumped at the opportunity to join a sinking ship. <\/p>\n

While many realise what an incredible talent he is, Dave Edwards thinks Wolves fans will boo Cunha<\/a> when he returns to Molineux in 2025\/26.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am sure he will be on his way, probably to Manchester United,\u201d Edwards said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he might get a few jeers when he plays against Wolves next season, but while it was his last match in the famous colours \u2013 the supporters gave him the appreciation of what his performances have deserved over the last 18 months or so.\u201d<\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see what sort of reception he gets but the likelihood is, there will be a few boos after how he\u2019s gone about leaving the club.<\/p>\n
