Prince William snubs King Charles for Diana in big decision about monarchy<\/p>\n
Prince William\u2019s vision for the monarchy has been taking shape in the public eye especially given his recent royal engagements and his prominent position in the family.<\/p>\n
The Prince of Wales has played a significant role in managing things in the absence of his cancer-stricken father, King Charles, last year and he continues to perform key duties on the monarch\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n
Despite the many changes Charles has made to the monarchy since his ascension to the throne, William has a clear idea of what he wants to do. <\/p>\n
And even though William and his father seem to be on better terms compared to his estranged brother Prince Harry, the future king\u2019s vision for the monarchy influenced by his late mother, Princess Diana \u2013 not Charles.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s no secret that Charles and Diana had a tumultuous marriage and both their sons leaned more towards their mother \u2013 given how fondly the two remember her.<\/p>\n
King Charles is reportedly concerned about the legacy he is going to leave behind, but Prince William is determined to honour his mother and reboot her legacy by \u201creshaping the monarchy\u201d, per royal author Edward White<\/p>\n
\u201cDiana said that she was trying to raise a future king that would ensure the monarchy survived into the 21st century \u2013 and William is trying to do a Diana reboot of the monarchy, combining the best of his mother and his grandmother,\u201d the author told The Mirror.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a report revealed that\u00a0William has made some \u201cradical departure\u201d from traditional approach to royal duties before he takes the throne. Royal editor Kate Mansey for the Times also cited Palace insiders for the major change as she dubbed him a\u00a0\u201cquiet disruptor\u201d.<\/p>\n
King Charles has been modernising the monarchy in many ways but he has remained steadfast on some of the major traditions that exist in the royal family. Charles has taken opportunities during public engagements in which he appeared more casual. Although he remains formal still abiding by the age-old values.<\/p>\n
William shared his views about the future during his visit to South Africa last year.<\/p>\n
