{"id":138586,"date":"2025-05-28T12:09:12","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T12:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/138586\/"},"modified":"2025-05-28T12:09:12","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T12:09:12","slug":"labour-planned-to-sell-out-uk-fishermen-months-ago-but-keir-starmer-could-be-plotting-greater-brexit-betrayal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/138586\/","title":{"rendered":"Labour planned to sell out UK fishermen MONTHS ago but Keir Starmer could be plotting greater Brexit betrayal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">While Brexiteers claim that Sir Keir Starmer&#8217;s &#8220;Brexit reset&#8221; has reduced Britain to becoming the &#8220;gimp of Brussels&#8221;, we have found evidence that his plan to hand over access to UK fisheries was months in the making. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, Starmer opted to hand over fishing rights to EU vessels for 12 years, edge closer to a border-busting Youth Mobility Scheme and adhere to strict Brussels-derived regulations. <\/p>\n<p>However, as the UK continues to &#8220;reset&#8221; its post-Brexit relationship with the EU, an arrangement compared to the customs union remains on the table for future negotiations. <\/p>\n<p> The Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Convention, which stretches from Morocco to Lebanon, is looking to expand its membership. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"8b0ac\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"c46e59aaa0535c1f27ba76c992e72230\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%208192%205464'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1748434151_992_sir-keir-starmer.jpg\" width=\"8192\" height=\"5464\" alt=\"Sir Keir Starmer\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Sir Keir Starmer<\/p>\n<p>GETTY<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the UK joined a growing list of prospective partners &#8211; alongside Syria, Libya and Iraq. <\/p>\n<p>Despite not appearing in the recent &#8220;reset&#8221; accord, speculation about the UK joining the bloc emerged at the same time as the groundwork had been laid for Starmer to &#8220;sell out&#8221; fishermen and agree to a Youth Mobility Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>In the months leading up to the summit, <a href=\"https:\/\/facts4eu.org\/fish\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facts4EU<\/a> , in conjunction with <a href=\"https:\/\/facts4eu.org\/fish\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UK Fisheries Campaign<\/a> (UKFC), warned that Starmer was planning to hand over UK access to EU fishermen.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the think tank points out that he was left with no choice as the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gbnews.com\/politics\/emmanuel-macron-brexit-britain-uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> EU first drew red lines over fishing rights four years ago<\/a>, so the PM was facing a capitulation once the fishing agreement came back up for renewal. <\/p>\n<p>However, a more sweeping overhaul of Brexit could be on the cards.
