{"id":138588,"date":"2025-05-28T12:10:10","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T12:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/138588\/"},"modified":"2025-05-28T12:10:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T12:10:10","slug":"largest-bess-in-eu-inaugurated-in-bulgaria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/138588\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Largest BESS in EU&#8217; inaugurated in Bulgaria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cIt is the first step towards achieving the goal of having 10,000 megawatt-hours of operating batteries in the country within the next year,\u201d said Minister of Energy, Zhecho Stankov, adding that BESS technology helps system security and price stability for Bulgaria. <\/p>\n<p>That 10GWh figure alludes to 82 projects totalling 9,712.89MWh that were awarded capex support in a recent auction totalling BGN 1.15 billion (\u20ac588 million\/US$670 million), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy-storage.news\/bulgaria-finalises-e600-million-funding-for-nearly-10gwh-of-energy-storage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">finalised by the government last month<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Stankov added: \u201cWhen the state and business look in the same direction, the result is stable projects for the benefit of the Bulgarian energy sector. Our task is to reduce the administrative burden and thus give business a chance to create new jobs and new investments.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.me.government.bg\/uploads\/files\/News_News\/9f04129ca326e30e16e38b7864648de23660274f.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/p>\n<p>Local outlets have reported the project is a 124MW\/496.2MWh, 4-hour system deployed by a company called Advance Green Energy AD, which is owned by brothers Kiril and Georgi Domuschiev.<\/p>\n<p>Advance Green Energy AD\u2019s CEO Stanislav Cherkezov posted on business networking site LinkedIn about the project: \u201cToday marks a historic moment for our team and the entire renewable energy sector \u2013 we\u2019re proud to officially open EU\u2019s largest battery storage power plant.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The technology provider for the project wasn\u2019t revealed but images showed a BESS unit with a weight of 42,000kg, which is roughly the average weight for a 5MWh 20-foot container product.
