Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada has said the club must be “prudent” but “ambitious” in the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

United have just suffered the worst season in the club’s modern history, and Ruben Amorim is looking to strengthen his squad in the summer to hit the ground running in 2025\/2026.<\/p>\n

Matheus Cunha is set to be the first signing of the summer and more transfers will follow.<\/p>\n

Berrada provided a rare interview to MUTV on Wednesday afternoon and revealed an update on transfer plans. “I can’t talk about specifics, but I can say we’ve been planning for many months now,” he told MUTV.<\/p>\n

“We were ready for all the different scenarios. Now we know what we need to do. We have a very clear idea of where we need to invest in the squad to improve.<\/p>\n

“So Jason [Wilcox], his team and Ruben have been in talks for many months. And now it’s a question of executing that plan and doing it in a way that is prudent. But at the same time, with ambition”.<\/p>\n

Berrada continued: “Ruben spoke really well on Sunday, and he’s right: the past is the past. It’s important to learn, as I said, now we need to stay together, stay United and I say thank you to the fans again.<\/p>\n

“The owner has also been really supportive in the transition here and now we just need to work really hard and do everything we can to bring the club back to the top and I’m very excited about what is coming. I’m sure the good days will be back.”<\/p>\n

Speaking about the season, Berrada said: “It’s a privilege to work for this club. It’s been a difficult season and we’re undergoing a transformation on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n

“We had to take some really tough decision to put the club in the best place possible for the future and our fans have been incredibly supportive and patient throughout this process and I can only say thank you.<\/p>\n

“Now, really our job is to focus on the future and learn from what has happened this season, improve and make sure we continue aiming to get back to the top again.”<\/p>\n

Berrada also spoke about the post-season tour. “The fans have been incredible since the moment we landed,” he added. “It’s really good to be back here. We have really passionate fans around the world.<\/p>\n

“They are very loyal to our team. People are still hurting from the loss last week, we all wanted to end the season with a trophy. But the players, the coaches and the staff are doing very well and I think they’re very focused now on engaging with our fans and starting to think about next season.”<\/p>\n
