Joule’s Brewery will turn the former restaurant into a dog-friendly canalside pub\"BistrotBistrot Pierre in Birmingham(Image: Bistrot Pierre)<\/p>\n

Bistrot Pierre on Gas Street in the city centre is set to become a traditional pub after a brewery purchased the canalside spot.<\/p>\n

Bistrot Pierre closed back in March alongside the Sutton Coldfield branch<\/a> as the business worked to preserve its future.<\/p>\n

Joule’s Brewery, which runs the Red Lion in the Jewellery Quarter and the New Inn in Harborne<\/a>, says that it is ‘very proud’ to announce the pub purchase and that it intends on ‘saving up’ to turn it into a traditional taproom.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Market Drayton brewery says that the team has ‘dreamed about’ owning the Gas Street venue and that the business intends on offering a ‘quintessential pub experience’ including ‘real fires, great pub food, live music, proper cask ale, good dogs and even better conversation’<\/p>\n

Joule’s Brewery has worked to ‘bring pubs back to life’ in recent years, restoring The Leopard in Nantwich and the Bricklayers Arms in Shrewsbury.<\/p>\n

It also has its flagship location in operation, The Stag at the Brewery, which is situated in Market Drayton<\/p>\n

Anna Brakel, Joule’s development director, said: “This is an ambitious site for us, but we do not undertake this challenge lightly.<\/p>\n

“Waterside Tap in the next year will turn into a Joule’s Taphouse.<\/p>\n

“Just like with our previous projects, we recognise the importance of preserving the history and unique features that make each pub special.<\/p>\n

“We’ll take our time to understand the site, community and listen to the customers to help guide our plans.<\/p>\n

“We are lucky to have many listed buildings within our Taphouse Estate – we find they have the most charm, as they’re steeped in history.”<\/p>\n

Bernie and Ade, the landlords of Harborne’s New Inn, will take on the Gas Street location alongside their existing responsibilities.<\/p>\n
