Emmerdale<\/a> delivered the biggest of all twists as Robert Sugden<\/a> (Ryan Hawley<\/a>) staged an unexpected return<\/a>, gatecrashing the wedding of one true love Aaron Dingle<\/a> (Danny Miller<\/a>) and his new flame John<\/a> (Oliver Farnworth<\/a>). <\/p>\n It was a moment years in the making and one that certainly didn\u2019t disappoint, proving to be a truly classic soap comeback.<\/p>\n Robert, as viewers know, was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the death of rapist Lee Posner. He subsequently cut all contact with soulmate Aaron<\/a> and filed for divorce. <\/p>\n Aaron struggled to process the loss but ultimately he moved on, finding love with John \u2013 who happens to be a long-lost sibling of Robert\u2019s but that\u2019s a story for another day. <\/p>\n John, as fans are aware, has what appears to be God complex <\/a>in that he puts the lives of those around them in danger <\/a>and plays the hero, swooping in last minute to rescue them. <\/p>\n Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) fell victim to such a thing and unfortunately for him, it proved fatal<\/a>, with John failing to \u2018rescue\u2019 him in time. <\/p>\n \t\t \t\t The killer disposed of Nate\u2019s body in a lake but has been suffering nightmares all week<\/a>, believing that someone will gatecrash the ceremony and expose his secrets. <\/p>\n While the motive might not exactly be to expose his secrets, John\u2019s theory was pretty spot on, as his half-brother \u2013 and more importantly his lover\u2019s ex-husband \u2013 stormed through the doors just in time to stop the ceremony. <\/p>\n No, you\u2019re crying. <\/p>\n Enter Robert<\/p>\n \u2018Robert\u2019s back after six years!,\u2019 exclaim actor Ryan Hawley, discussing his comeback. \u2018And a lot has happened during this time in the village and for Robert.<\/p>\n \u2018Two very different worlds, the village and Robert\u2019s reality in prison. And out of the blue, just in the nick of time, Robert turns up at Aaron\u2019s wedding to John.<\/p>\n \u2018It sets up a fantastic few episodes to finish off the wedding week which shows how the incident of Robert turning up will resolve itself. <\/p>\n \t\t \u2018It\u2019s a massive dilemma for Aaron, who\u2019s found John as a new love in his life and then he\u2019s got Robert, who used to be the love of his life, turn up! He\u2019s got a massive decision to make.<\/p>\n \u2018I guess all the weight is on Aaron\u2019s shoulders. What\u2019s Robert doing there, has he got ulterior motives, does he know something about John? How has he even found out that this wedding was taking place? There\u2019s a lot to unpick and so much to be revealed over the next few nights. It\u2019s a great few episodes and I\u2019m really excited to see them.\u2019<\/p>\n Back for good? <\/p>\n When asked if Robert is back for long, Ryan had this to say: \u2018Well Ryan is back, but Robert is still technically in prison so we shall have to wait and see how that works out!\u2019<\/p>\n Consider us intrigued. <\/p>\n \t\t The actor, however, was quick to brand his return to Emmerdale \u2018fantastic\u2019, revealing that it\u2019s \u2018more fun\u2019 that he thought it was going to be. <\/p>\n \u2018We\u2019ve been filming some great stuff, there\u2019s a lot more to Robert\u2019s return than just the value of opening the door.,\u2019 he enthused. <\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019ve been having so much fun, everyone\u2019s been lovely, and there are a lot of familiar faces and loads of really positive energy about the place. There\u2019s lots of drama, lots of conflict.
