still set to miss out on climate targets despite closing the gap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_25_1337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Commission says<\/a> EU member states have \u201csignificantly closed the gap\u201d on achieving the collective 2030 emissions goal, but are still set to miss the mark by 1%.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to its assessment of countries\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/publications\/communication-delivering-unions-2030-energy-and-climate-objectives_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Energy and Climate Plans<\/a> (NECPs), which says the EU should hit a 54% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.<\/p>\n<p>This is still 1% shy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/climate.ec.europa.eu\/eu-action\/european-climate-law_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legally binding target<\/a> of a collective 55% reduction in GHG emissions<\/p>\n<p>It also says it will reach a share of at least 42.5% of renewable energy by 2030 in a bid to become the <a href=\"https:\/\/climate.ec.europa.eu\/eu-action\/climate-strategies-targets\/2030-climate-targets_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first climate-neutral continent by 2050.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.archroma.com\/press\/releases\/archroma-launches-avitera-raspberry-se-to-extend-the-generation-next-platform-for-economical-sustainability-in-dark-shades\" CPRAM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A European Commission statement said: \u201cMember states are demonstrating political resolve to\u00a0reduce\u00a0our dependence on imported fossil fuels, improve the resilience and security of energy supplies and infrastructure,\u00a0accelerate the integration of the internal energy market\u00a0and support those who need it the most with\u00a0investments and skills development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commission\u2019s assessment provides a solid foundation for discussions on the next steps in the EU\u2019s decarbonisation journey towards 2040 and reaching climate neutrality by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commission will intensify\u00a0work with Member States to close the remaining gaps\u00a0and implement additional guidance, set out in today\u2019s assessment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It added that Belgium, Estonia and Poland have still not yet submitted their final NECPs, urging them to do so as soon as
