The worst-hit areas will be Seville and Cordoba in the south of Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The hottest days are forecast to be May 29, 30, 31 and June 1, with temperatures dropping slightly at the start of next week. These figures represent a period of unseasonably hot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/wales-weather\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:weather;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">weather<\/a>, with temperatures usually averaging 28\u00b0C in the south of Spain in May.<\/p>\n<p>Such temperatures will likely cause concern in Spain, a country which has faced water shortage problems in recent years due to long spells of hot weather. Daytime cloud cover in the mountain ranges. Temperatures will fluctuate slightly along the Mediterranean coast, rising elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Light, variable winds with moderate southerly winds in the afternoon. Moderate easterly winds will be expected along the Almer\u00eda coast and the Strait of Gibraltar, where strong winds may occasionally develop.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote placeholder=\"\" data-theme=\"light\" class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>The heat is building across Spain, Portugal and parts of the Mediterranean this week and temperatures of over 40 Celsius are possible in places <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3C0CSi8OHr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:pic.twitter.com\/3C0CSi8OHr;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">pic.twitter.com\/3C0CSi8OHr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Met Office (@metoffice) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/metoffice\/status\/1927755349504802855?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:May 28, 2025;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">May 28, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Spanish forecaster has put the phenomenon down to the presence of a &#8220;powerful anticyclone&#8221; in the Azores which will reach the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands.<\/p>\n<p>The anticyclone will carry warm, dry and dusty air from Africa over Andalusia, the Alboran Sea and the central peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>For the next four days, temperatures in Seville will reach 38\u00b0C, with the UV level reaching 10. Met Office advice for a UV level of that scale is to spend time in the shade between 11AM and 3PM.
