A driver is being ‘urged to hand themselves in’ after a teenager was left seriously hurt in a collision.<\/p>\n
The 17-year-old was walking along Ladypool Road when he was struck by a vehicle, which failed to stop.<\/p>\n
Passers-by ran to help the victim, and he was taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Read More: Hunt for driver as teenager “seriously injured” in collision on Ladypool Road<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n The incident, which happened just after midday on May 19, was caught on footage which has been circulated on social media.<\/p>\n Despite appeals, the driver has not been traced and West Midlands Police<\/a> is re-appealing to them to do the right thing and come forward.<\/p>\n Get the latest BirminghamLive news direct to your inbox<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Police said: “We\u2019re asking for your help after a teenage boy was hit by a car in Sparkbrook.<\/p>\n “Shortly after midday on Monday, 19 May, the 17-year-old was crossing Ladypool Road when he was hit by a dark coloured car.<\/p>\n “The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n “The driver failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.<\/p>\n “Our specialist investigators are working to establish the exact circumstances of what happened, and we\u2019re urging the driver to hand themselves in.<\/p>\n “We also need anyone who saw what happened, or has any CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact us via 101 quoting Log 2156 of 19 May.<\/p>\n “Likewise, we are keen to hear from you if you have any other information about this incident, which you can give to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.”<\/p>\n
