But first, he\u2019ll need to find a lost soul. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/trailer\/\" id=\"auto-tag_trailer\" data-tag=\"trailer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trailer<\/a> for Good Fortune, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/aziz-ansari\/\" id=\"auto-tag_aziz-ansari\" data-tag=\"aziz-ansari\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aziz Ansari<\/a>\u2018s feature directorial debut, dropped on Wednesday, opening with Reeves as Gabriel, a hopeful angel looking to be promoted from the unfulfilling roll of saving people from texting-and-driving accidents. His fellow angel Martha, played by the always phenomenal Sandra Oh, recommends he find someone worth saving, which leads to Gabriel standing on a Denny\u2019s sign before spotting Ansari\u2019s hapless character and declaring \u201cI\u2019m here to save you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tUpon learning of his guardian angel\u2019s past credentials, Ansari exclaims, \u201cWait. You\u2019re telling me I have a\u00a0budget\u00a0guardian angel?!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhile the trailer doesn\u2019t give much away in terms of plot (a rarity these days), Gizmodo previously <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/john-wick-ballerina-footage-aziz-ansari-halle-berry-1851401124\">reported<\/a> that a Lionsgate presentation at\u00a0CinemaCon 2024\u00a0offered a closer look at the project written, produced, and directed by Ansari. As part of Gabriel\u2019s solution to showing Ansari\u2019s character that the grass isn\u2019t always greener on the other side of the Hollywood, the well-meaning angel body-swaps him with an uber-rich jerk, played by Seth Rogen. When Ansari refuses to switch back, chaos naturally ensues. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe film also stars Keke Palmer, and is produced by Ansari, Anthony Katagas and Alan Yang, with Ansari\u00a0 Christopher Woodrow, Connor DiGregorio, and Jonathan McCoy executive producing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhen speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/aziz-ansari-directorial-debut-keanu-reeves-seth-rogen-good-fortune-first-look-11742826\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, Ansari said he hopes the film will bring back the type of R-rated comedies Rogen became known for in the aughts and 2010s. <\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI feel like people are like, \u2018Oh, no one goes to comedies and theaters anymore.\u2019 It\u2019s like, well, they haven\u2019t really been making a lot of them, you know what I mean?\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cSo I hope this movie shows that people do want to see comedies at theaters and that it just leads to people making s\u2014ty ripoffs of\u00a0Good Fortune.\u201c<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tGood Fortune is slated to hit theaters on Oct. 17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Keanu Reeves is angel on a mission to make the world a better place.
