Asked if he will be campaigning for this once more, he said: \u201cI was just teasing them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis could be the next Brexit. What I mean by that is where the political class are just hopelessly out of touch with where the rest of the country is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nigel spoke on a highly unusual day for MPs as they assembled in Parliament to debate the future of British Steel.<\/p>\n<p>Negotiations between ministers and the Chinese Jingle Group, who bought British Steel five years ago, have reached an impasse leaving the two blast furnaces at Scunthorpe on the brink.<\/p>\n<p>The imminent closure of the plant has resulted in the Government taking drastic action with the risk of losing Britain\u2019s last steel manufacturer proving too much to bear for Keir Starmer and co.<\/p>\n<p>Officials have approved funding for a 55,000-ton coal consignment from Japan in an effort to keep Britain\u2019s last virgin steel plant running.<\/p>\n<p>It comes months after Energy Secretary Ed Miliband had spelt the end of coal mines in Britain to \u201csend a signal to the world\u201d on climate change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nigel Farage has demanded the Government ends its drive for Net Zero.
