A Liverpool born actor<\/a> has announced she been diagnosed with cancer. Magda Szubanski was born in Merseyside in 1961 before she moved to Australia with her family.<\/p>\n

The actor is known to fans for her role as the farmer\u2019s wife Esme Hoggett in the 1995 movie Babe. The 64-year-old reprised her role for the 1998 sequel: Babe: Pig In The City.<\/p>\n

Magda is also renowned for her role as Sharon Strzelecki in Australian sitcom Kath And Kim and voiced Miss Viola in Happy Feet. She has taken to Instagram <\/a>to share the sad news she she has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.<\/p>\n

She told her 275,000 followers: “Lovelies. Well. Some not great news. I\u2019ve been diagnosed with stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma\u2014a rare and fast-moving blood cancer.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s serious, but I\u2019ve started one of the best treatments available (the Nordic protocol), and I\u2019m lucky to be getting absolutely world-class care here in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

“I won\u2019t sugar-coat it: it\u2019s rough. But I\u2019m hopeful. I\u2019m being lovingly cared for by friends and family, my medical team is brilliant, and I\u2019ve never felt more held by the people around me.<\/p>\n

She added: “I\u2019ll be lying very low while my immune system takes a hammering, so if you see me out and about\u2014don\u2019t hug me, kiss me, or breathe anywhere near me! Wave enthusiastically from a safe distance and know I love you madly.“This is an obscure cancer <\/a>and was only discovered incidentally via a breast screen where they found my lymph nodes were up. TBH, I\u2019ve been feeling pretty ratshit for ages. So I asked for extra bloods and – voila!<\/p>\n

“So the take away is – get tested and listen to your body! For now, just know I\u2019m in good hands, good spirits\u2014but I reserve my yuman right to be a cranky old moll. Love you all, Mags.”<\/p>\n

Kylie Minogue<\/a> said: “Sending all love.” Dannii Minogue added: “We will see you walking down the street – everyone will be waving to you and sending long distance”<\/p>\n

Jurassic Park star Sam Neill said: “Right there with you darling xx” TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson posted: “Sending love, strength and every ounce of joy you have given all of us over the decades, to help see you through these difficult times darling Magda.<\/p>\n
