A 13-year-old boy was beaten up by ‘five men’ with ‘bats and weapons’ in the middle of the day on a busy Manchester road.<\/p>\n
The group of men got out of a car which drove towards the boy after cutting across a grass verge on Kingsway in Burnage, according to an eyewitness. The boy tried to run away and seek shelter in a nearby shop, the eyewitness said, but he was not allowed to enter.<\/p>\n
The men then allegedly attacked the young boy while he was on the ground in a violent assault that lasted around ’10 minutes’.<\/p>\n
According to the eyewitness, the men called the boy by a different name, leading her to believe it was a case of ‘mistaken identity’.<\/p>\n
The Manchester Evening News understands the boy was taken to hospital and was treated for injuries to his head and his hands.<\/p>\n
In an post on social media, the boy’s mum said he was ‘battered and bruised’, claiming the men attacked him with ‘bats and weapons’.<\/p>\n
The M.E.N. understands that the men are accused of having used a ‘metal baseball bat’ and brandishing a ‘machete’ during the attack.<\/p>\n
GMP are investigating the incident which took place at around 3.30pm on Monday (May 26) but there have been no arrests so far.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the M.E.N., the eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said: “The first thing I noticed was the car speeding.<\/p>\n
“It cut across the grass verge and tried to go into him. He was on his own. It knocked him off.<\/p>\n
“He got up and ran and the five men got out and chased him. He fell to the floor and when he was on the floor, they went for him.<\/p>\n
“From what I could see he was just lying on the floor. He was being sick.<\/p>\n
“His head was bleeding. He had a few cuts on his head.<\/p>\n
“He wasn’t really speaking. He kept speaking and going to sleep.”<\/p>\n
According to the eyewitness, around four police vehicles and three ambulances attended the scene before the boy’s family arrived.<\/p>\n
A GMP spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating following reports of a boy being attacked in the Burnage area.<\/p>\n
“At around 3.30pm, we received reports of a 13-year-old male having been assaulted by a group on Kingsway.<\/p>\n
“The victim was subsequently treated for injuries, which are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening or changing.<\/p>\n
“No arrests have been made and enquiries are currently ongoing.<\/p>\n
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police via 101 or gmp.police.uk, quoting log 1969 of 26\/05\/25.<\/p>\n
