{"id":142507,"date":"2025-05-29T22:20:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T22:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/142507\/"},"modified":"2025-05-29T22:20:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T22:20:08","slug":"pakistan-shocks-world-with-plans-to-launch-bitcoin-strategic-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/142507\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan shocks world with plans to launch Bitcoin Strategic Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pakistan unveiled plans to set a strategic BTC reserve and not sell the holdings.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About eight countries hold BTC worth over $57 billion as of May 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pakistan has unveiled plans for setting up a Strategic <a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/bitcoin-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Bitcoin [BTC]<\/a> Reserve (SBR).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas, Bilal bin Saqib, the CEO of Pakistani Crypto Council (PCC) and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on blockchain and crypto, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fOUEiNAwiDE&amp;t=17029s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">said<\/a>,\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe Pakistani government is setting up its own government-led Bitcoin strategic reserve. And the national BTC wallet is not for speculation or hype. We\u2019ll be holding these BTCs and we\u2019ll never sell them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Trump BTC effect?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Saqib acknowledged President Donald Trump\u2019s impact in the space,\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHe (Trump) was able to recognize that Bitcoin is not a threat but an opportunity for innovation, freedom, and sovereignty.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Notably, the Trump administration pledged to set up a strategic BTC reserve (SBR). Although the promise is yet to be kept, the U.S. move sparked interest among other nations, including Pakistan.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, Pakistan\u2019s crypto interest goes beyond SBR. In March, Saqib told Bloomberg that the country was \u2018done sitting on the sidelines\u2019 on matters of crypto and financial innovation. <\/p>\n<p>As a result, he said they were pushing for a legal framework to drive crypto adoption and investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after, the PCC <a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/binances-cz-joins-pakistan-crypto-council-as-strategic-advisor-meaning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">appointed<\/a> Binance founder, CZ, as a strategic advisor. The country\u2019s crypto engagements have expanded to Trump-backed World Liberty Financials (WLFI) in the recent partnership.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In late April, the county announced the PCC-WLFI partnership, targeting crypto adoption and blockchain-related experiments on tokenization, remittances, e.t.c.
