Fears are growing for a missing <\/a>British holidaymaker who vanished during a night out with friends hours after flying to the Algarve on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Greg Monks\u2019 worried sister Jillian sounded the alert <\/a>today, saying the Glaswegian had last been seen in the party resort of Albufeira during a first night out in the sunshine resort and describing his disappearance as \u201ccompletely out of character.\u201d<\/p>\n She wrote on an Albufeira expat site: \u201cMy brother has not been seen <\/a>since Tuesday evening. If you are currently there and have any information place contact me with any info.\u201d<\/p>\n Alison Meechan Fraser, from Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, subsequently confirmed the 38-year-old had been reported missing <\/a>and police were looking for him.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cHe was with a group of friends. All the other boys are at the accommodation.<\/p>\n \u201cThey all arrived Tuesday, went on a night out and none of them have seen <\/a>him since late Tuesday\/early Wednesday.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s out of character, he\u2019s 38 and named Greg.\u201d<\/p>\n Join the <\/strong>Daily Record’s WhatsApp community here<\/strong><\/a> and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n Greg had checked into the Novochoro Apartments, a tourist resort consisting of 31 units, shortly before he went missing.<\/p>\n A manager there said late this afternoon: \u201cThe police are doing their job and I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll have good news soon.<\/p>\n \u201cBut it\u2019s obviously concerning because this gentleman will have been missing for 48 hours come tonight.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was with a group of male friends.<\/p>\n \u201cI understand the missing man\u2019s family will be flying to Portugal but I don\u2019t have any exact information on that.\u201d<\/p>\n Well-placed sources said the GNR police force in Albufeira was leading the search for Mr Monks.<\/p>\n Nicole Ashleigh Kerso, who describes herself on Facebook as being in a relationship with Greg, also posted a photo of him online last night alongside the appeal for information on his whereabouts his sister had published earlier in the day.<\/p>\n Portuguese police could not be reached for an immediate contact this afternoon.<\/p>\n Other British holidaymakers reacted to Jillian\u2019s SOS <\/a>by promising their support.<\/p>\n Last month Edinburgh University history student Gregor Thomson vanished briefly less than a full day after arriving in Madrid with rugby club teammates for a weekend trip abroad.<\/p>\n The 21-year-old\u2019s dad Murray touched down in the Spanish capital to learn his son had reappeared after becoming separated from friends during a night out.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/491414095_9635529046507172_1420629693234654518_n.jpg\")
