{"id":142783,"date":"2025-05-30T00:52:48","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T00:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/142783\/"},"modified":"2025-05-30T00:52:48","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T00:52:48","slug":"philip-byrnes-irish-jockeys-fall-at-wexford-to-be-reviewed-by-ihrb-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/142783\/","title":{"rendered":"Philip Byrnes: Irish jockey&#8217;s fall at Wexford to be reviewed by IHRB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board will review jockey Philip Byrnes&#8217; final-hurdle unseat at Wexford on Wednesday.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Byrnes was leading the Wexford Claiming Hurdle on Redwood Queen, who is trained by his father Charles, heading into the final hurdle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, Byrnes was unseated after appearing to become unstable as Redwood Queen jumped the last, which allowed 1-3 favourite Beacon Edge to win by a comfortable margin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The raceday stewards at Wexford felt no further action was required, but the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) will now review the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A IHRB spokesperson said on Thursday: &#8220;We note the position of the raceday stewards following their review of the incident. I can confirm the matter is down for review by an IHRB senior racing official.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The review will take into consideration the incident on the racecourse and other factors, such as betting patterns of the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Redwood Queen had drifted from 7-2 to 13-2 in the betting odds, and was running at 1\/7 in-play at the time of the fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board will review jockey Philip Byrnes&#8217; final-hurdle unseat at Wexford on Wednesday.
