The RSPCA is appealing for information after an dog found abandoned in a shoebox sadly died.<\/p>\n

The ill black cockapoo was dumped on the doorstep of a home in Coventry’s Stanley Road on Sunday, May 11.<\/p>\n

The young pup was spotted by a member of the public who had arrived home from being out all day at around 7pm.<\/p>\n

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Paige Bacon said: “They noticed a shoe box on the doorstep and, when they opened it, they found a small black cockapoo-type puppy inside.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey rushed the dog to a vet where he was unresponsive, unable to lift his head and looked in a really poor condition.<\/p>\n

“Despite the efforts of vets, the puppy sadly didn’t make it through the night.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis must have been a shocking and distressing discovery.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re grateful to the person who found this dog and rushed him to a vet.<\/p>\n

“When an animal is in need, the quicker they get help the better.<\/p>\n

“If you find a small pet who has been abandoned, take them directly to a local vet or rescue centre.<\/p>\n

“These teams can call in the expertise of our teams if there\u2019s evidence that the animal has been neglected or abused.”<\/p>\n

Paige, who is appealing to the public for information about this incident, added: “It\u2019s really sad to think that he was dumped like this at a time when he desperately needed urgent help and care.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s never the right thing to do to abandon an animal.<\/p>\n

“There is plenty of help and advice out there for struggling pet owners, such as on the RSPCA\u2019s website<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
