A popular Greater Manchester pub<\/a> which has been owned by its operator for more than 110 years is to receive a huge \u00a3550,000 refurbishment.<\/p>\n The Old Plough, located in Ashton-on-Mersey<\/a>, is set to embark on the month-long revamp next month which will see it given a full interior makeover, including new seating, and a complete redecoration.<\/p>\n The revamp of the Trafford <\/a>pub will also include a number of structural improvements, as well as a redesigned bar area and a revitalised beer garden. The pub is aimed to reopen with its new look in July.<\/p>\n The earliest mention of the pub<\/a>, on Green Lane, on record is in an 1841 map, whilst it was also referred to as the Old Plough Inn in the 1877 Ordnance Survey. The pub was first acquired by Hydes in 1911 and the family-run operator has looked after it for 114 years since.<\/p>\n According to CAMRA, the pub features a central fireplace in front of the bar, which divides into a separate lounge and vault area. It also features an upstairs function room, named the Ashton<\/a> Room, which hosts events and celebrations throughout the year.<\/p>\n When it reopens, the pub will be managed by Niamh Kenny, who was recently promoted to general manager. Niamh joined as deputy manager 12 months ago but has been with Hydes for more than seven years now.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really excited about the refurbishment and I can\u2019t wait to see what the customers make of it,\u201d Niamh said. \u201cThis is a real hub for the local community and the customers are almost as excited as I am to see what it will look like.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m especially looking forward to revamps of the vault area and the beer garden which will really enhance our service offering.\u201d<\/p>\n Hydes Brewery said the work on the Old Plough forms part of a wider multi-million-pound programme that is planned for other key sites over the next 12 months, including a \u2018significant\u2019 investment into the Boat House at Parkgate on the Wirral.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Hydes were also behind a major refurbishment<\/a> of the award-winning pub and boutique hotel, The Abel Heywood<\/a>, in the Northern Quarter<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking about the ongoing refurbishments, Adam Mayers, Managing Director of Hydes, said: \u201cThe Old Plough is a popular community pub and continues an investment strategy that sees us committing to the ongoing refurbishments of all pubs in our estate.<\/p>\n \u201cThis follows significant investment programmes for the previous two years, resulting in the revitalisation of multiple sites, which is key to us.
