Following on from band Haim teasing the cover of their new single Take Me Back with Manchester\u2019s Portland Street in the background, a new, interactive map has emerged which shows all the Manchester locations behind some of the biggest hits<\/strong>. Launched by National Rail, the Musical Routes \u2013 Behind the Tracks map<\/strong> contains hundreds of places featured in the songs, music<\/a> artwork and music videos of Britain\u2019s favourite artists<\/strong> \u2013 with dozens of places across Manchester and the North West featured.<\/p>\n Would you believe us if we told you that big name artists like Timbaland<\/strong>, Liam Gallagher <\/strong>and Ed Sheeran<\/strong> have used Manchester as the backdrop for their music videos? Yeah, neither would we, but it\u2019s true!<\/p>\n According to the Musical Routes map, a lock-up garage on Salford<\/a>\u2018s Chapel Street<\/strong> was the setting for the music video for the Timbaland hit The Way I Are, and The Midland Hotel<\/strong> was used as a key location for the music video to Better Days by Liam Gallagher. Plus, suburbs such as New Moston<\/strong> are also included on the map, which featured in the music video for Take Me Back to London by Ed Sheeran.<\/p>\n The new map features other locations in and around Manchester with a connection to iconic artists such as Ian Brown<\/strong>, Oasis<\/a><\/strong>, Zayn Malik<\/strong>, The Smiths<\/strong>, The Courteeners<\/strong> and many more. From stations<\/a> to stadiums, hotels<\/a> to high schools, bars<\/a> to record shops<\/a>, the stories that connect these Greater Manchester spots to famous artists<\/strong> are all revealed on the map.<\/p>\n In addition, National Rail has launched a new series of audio guides<\/strong>, narrated by legendary broadcaster Jo Whiley<\/strong>, with contributions from DJ Yinka Bokinni<\/strong> and former All Saint Melanie Blatt<\/strong>. The guides cover key geographical areas of Britain<\/strong> and reveal the links they have with a range of homegrown and international acts \u2013 plus how music fans can explore these locations by train.<\/p>\n Manchester of course features again \u2013 with an insightful and revealing musical guide to Manchester, Liverpool<\/a> and the North West. Rail travellers can hear the stories that go behind the record stores, streets and railways<\/strong> that inspired Northern legends from Oasis to the Beatles.
